Its worth noting that the five largest insurers collectively reported a record profit for 2009. They had an average profit last year of 5.2 percent, for a combined total of $12.2 billion. This was an increase of $4.4 billion, or 56 percent, compared with 2008. Nevertheless, Margolis sent back a pitiful letter pleading that Anthem and the other companies were suffering because of increased health care costs. That claim was, of course, a blatant lie. The insurers have been dropping their most costly customers, reducing the amount and quality of care they cover and stuffing more money into their already overflowing coffers. They actually decreased their payouts by 11% between 2008 and 2009. Anthem also sharply increased premiums by 68% in 2008!

We wish the increases were smaller, but the cost of medical care for our members keeps rising dramatically. These increases are necessary to cover those costs. As we indicated above, thats a blatant lie. The chart below shows what really happened....

That was the point of passing Obamacare..wasn't it ?
See..nothing has changed. If anything it's going to be worse because now you have to pay for those that don't.

I don't get it. It says the average was only 5.2% profit. That isn't a lot. Somethings wrong with this picture.
