You make a valid point, and I don't know how I missed your point that was posted over a year ago . But the reason blacks who are successful have a black doctor's association or a black engineers club is because of some of the still racist attitude some people have toward them. Case in point. There was a skin head racist father who refused to have his son treated by a black doctor who was the specialist at that hospital to help this man's son. He let his son die because he just refused to let a black doctor help his son.
That last bit you mentioned is extreme. It reminds me of a clip from Jerry Springer where a woman said she would rather watch her own child die rather than her child get an organ donor of a different race. This is to which Jerry Springer wished that said woman never has a child.
It also reminds me of what I read in National Geographic about apartheid in South Africa. It was not unknown for people to die because patients were afraid of getting help from a doctor of a different race. And this was in the 1970s(the magazine article).
Good question, but I was thinking it goes back to the saying from the bible, to much is given much is required. So in a sense, her argument was that if you are black successful then give something back to your community.
I alluded to it in a previous post, but leading an educated, lawful, professional, loving, family raising and nuturing life IS giving back to a community. Actually it's paying forward to a community. Every single time a poor black family breaks free from the pressures that pull them back into povery and that prevent them from living a full, satisfying life, they are helping the black community. Every single time.

I just hope that white racist skinhead was nailed to the wall by CPS and have the cops have a "talk" with him, that ignorant fool. Where I'm from attitude trumps skin color and falling in love. I'm def "white" and have a "Redneck" attitude about some things but, the lady whom I'm marrying next year is probably part Black looking at her facial features. Too bad we can't have kids; we're too old but, it is what it is.

In a way, you present a point. Whenever a Black person gets an education, stays out of prison, doesn't have children out of wedlock and then abandon them, when a Black person actually does positive things, said person is not contributing to so many negative statistics.

Agreed. Kinda like us "Irish" of even 100 years ago. Less of us messing up makes those of us who "take care of business" look better.
I agree that it's unfortunate how the black middle-class is invisible to the media. They are success stories but the media feeds off of chaos and dysfunction, and most urban areas are full of that.
I don't agree with everything that is in it. However, I can agree with the assessment that the Black middle class is often ignored. In fact, there are some people who really don't care.

Thanks for sharing. I will just say this. When a black person says that he or she is a victim (racism, discrimination, or what ever), then that person is already defeated.

Yeah and another poster got on my about not making a valid claim. I didn't start this thread to debate whether or not what I am saying is a claim or not, but just to dialogue with open minded people who know how to have an intelligent conversation without tearing each other down. With that said, you bring up an interesting point, and I am sure there are still people who feel that a heart transplant or any organ from a race different from their own is taboo.

I think some people may be more interested in saying "I'm right, you're wrong". One reason for tearing others down.
I brought up that point because that scenario was quite extreme. I always figured a heart is a heart. If I'm sick and I need an organ transplant, it will not matter who it comes from as long as it is a healthy organ and I can live. Letting one's own child die rather than accepting help from someone simply because of race is basically child abuse of an extreme nature. That skinhead might as well have murdered his own child if that was the direction he was going to take.
