Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza's Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip's small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.

Gunmen used the roof of the school during the fighting, and the convent was "desecrated," Mussalem told the AP.

Gee, and there is respect for other religions there. If they (muslims) cannot show tolerance to other faiths they should not get respect here (USA) or given any platform to stand on. If muslims want to work and respect other religions I am right there with them and will work hand and hand to help them. The muslims in america need to denounce these horrible acts!!!

Your link is a dead link. I googled the topic as I was curious and found the story on associatedcontent.com as essentially the only outlet that carried it. It was also published by a Jewish newspaper and a link to mlive.com (your link) which had no content.

I don't doubt similar ignorance on the part of Muslim, but I wonder why the only ones who ran this story was on odd blog without high readership and from a Jewish source that has motive to publish.

I also think you're going to confuse some readers who believe this is in response to the Florida pastor who wanted to burn Qurans.

Could we all just agree to abandon religion as an activity at this point? lol

This is the problem with a lot of things they want tolerance yet they do not feel they need to give it back.

I don't doubt the childishness of the Muslim world to respond as ignorantly as this, but I also find that the story smells a bit funny. Why are the only ones with this story running it on odd blogs without high readership and from a Jewish source that has motive to publish?

I wouldn't be surprised if its true, but I am suspicious.

In any event, down with religion.
I just got it from online worked fine for me. Sorry

Yes, I know, and therefore peace cannot work if it is only one side, much like marriage or any other partnership. Thanks Milborn.

It appears to me that your googling skills may be a bit weak. I tried it and stopped reading links to forums, blogs and news sites after the fourth page. Some of the dates were September 2010 so I guess the story is still around after 3 years.

Nice try but no cigar.

It is FACT, for anyone who cares for the truth, that Christians are very much second class citizens in virtually all Muslim countries. There is a little thing called the internet, which is a very handy tool to do some research. Just google 'Christian persecution in Egypt' and see for yourself.

Egypt was a Christian nation until it was conquered by the Muslim Arabs in the 7th century. Historians believe the majority of the population remained Christian until the 13th or 14th centuries. But because under Islam Christians were deemed to be dhimmi (second class members of the community who were barely tolerated under Islamic conditions), the Christian population gradually converted to Islam in order to survive. Even today, Christians are still anywhere from 10-20% of Egypt's population (compared to Muslims being 1% or less of the U.S. population). However, Christians, despite being the original inhabitants of Egypt, are persecuted and discriminated against. Their opportunities are limited, since Egyptian national I.D. cards list their religion. There are no laws against religious discrimination, therefore their employment and educational opportunities are limited. Churches have been attacked and burned down, priests killed, Christian girls raped and kidnapped then forcibly converted to Islam. Christians are severely underrepresented in the government, the courts, and the military. In fact, Egypt has a law that forbids Christians from even building a church without the permission of the President of Egypt. Until recently, the law forbade Christians from repairing churches without his approval (which was slow and rare in coming)

I am not saying we should limit the rights of Muslims in western countries, but we should demand the same rights for Christians, Jews, and members of other religions in the Muslim world. I have always been skeptical of Imams and other Muslim religious leaders in the West, who are almost entirely immigrants, preaching about religious toleration while they are here (and in the minority) and doing NOTHING about it in their own countries.

About the only exceptions to this are Lebanon and Syria. Christians are free in Lebanon because they are a large enough share of the population (35-40%) and they have guns (Christian militias). Syrian Christians are relatively free and secure because Syria is ruled by the Alawite minority who are similar to the Christians.

Good post, especially the paragraph in bold.

I would like Imam Rauf to go and fix what is going on in other Muslim countries before he tries to build his embassy in NYC. If they are not tolerate toward Christians in other countries, where Christians are in the minority, who thinks that will not happen to us?

All they have to do is have elected officials, in the majority, change whatever laws are in their favor. It is absolutely ridiculous for anyone in America to look at Muslim countries overseas, how they operate and keep saying, "It won't happen here. We have a Constitution." Yes, we do because we are, basically, a Christian nation. And that would be true regardless of what Obama wants to spout out about it not being so. It is my belief that this is what they want, because I think the radical left really hates Christianity and they want to wipe it out. Solution - bring in the Muslims.

Some can claim all along that there are moderate Muslims, but that doesn't appear to be true in any country where they are in the majority. Give them an inch and they will take a mile.
