Ya got that right, China is winning the Green Race, they are on track to convert their entire nation to green economy by 2030. USA goes green nationally or we will be left in the coal dust and the oil spill.

LOL, seriously.... you need reality check. China puts up a new coal plant every couple of weeks. These would also be newer, cleaner and more efficient plants. In the meantime every proposed plant here in the US gets fought tooth and nail and the same old plants they would replace keep chugging along.

Yep...to manufacture all of the unnecessary crap we buy from them at "Screw America" Walmart. China has a "Buy made in China" policy and here in the good old USA, we are so grateful to import their $hit that we can excuse any way that they manufacture it. In the meantime, China is running roughshod over us in production of energy alternatives on our buck. Shame on you USA!

China will make up about a third of Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd's total business by 2015, its chief said, helped by Beijing's strong incentives to promote clean energy..."
jet, there's not much more than I can add other than,......, excellent post!
The little I would like to add is that solutions to problems are not always an either/or nor are they always all or nothing.
It will take government agencies, universities and for profit companies, along with individual entrepreneurs to come up with alternatives before our finite fuel supply runs out.
And as for you royboy, I'll take a look at your links when I have the time and if you mean by "my kind": those that don't get tingles off the blackboard doodlings of some emo blabber mouth, then yes royboy those are my kind of people indeed.

I couldn't agree more! It needs to be driven by a national initiative, a Green Deal akin to FDRs' New Deal, with every sector and even individual citizens dedicated to not only maintain our mutual survival as a country, but also to leave a renewed legacy for American society to move forward.

Based on current modes of operation and standard procedures, you would think so. But they're based on generations of government meddling, muddling, and mismanagement.
For example, the performance differential between rail and a private automobile is as high as 20:1**. In other words, for each unit of fuel, rail can carry 20 times as many passengers or cargo. And Electric powered rail has a 3:1 advantage over diesel. (Disregarding other efficiency factors, such as space efficiency, lack of traffic congestion, scalability, and pollution - which also favor rail over automobiles.)
What more can government agencies, universities or companies do, to change those known values? Already, the evidence shows nothing but subsidies for the more wasteful form of land transportation - the rubber tire on pavement.
It has been the government, starting in the 20th century, that has used ever larger amounts of our money, to skew the system away from all rationality. I have no expectation of reasoning from partisan politicians, career bureaucrats, nor the legions of special interests who bribe and bicker for their share of our pie.

I agree, in that partisan extremists and deep pocket special interests often times makes the government ineffective in making necessary changes that would be beneficial to the national interest.
China needs just about EVERY kind of energy to power its massive (and massive is an UNDERSTATEMENT) population... China isn't trying to go green, it HAS to use green technology to power itself, in addition to nuclear, hydroelectric, coal, etc... If China can power everything by simple coal, it would have... lets be realistic instead of trying to mislead the public... China needs wind, solar, geothermal, etc its population is so massive and widespread, there isn't any other alternative.... as to "who" is leading the green technology... well, I am still waiting for better solar cell efficiency for the past decade... nobody is doing any REAL innovation in terms of green energy, so lets stop with the BS, everybody is using the last decade technology and no change even in the horizon...
