has nothing to due with lower taxes...has to due with the thievery of the politicians in the government, and the stupidness of them

an example: asphault (a PETROLIUM product) costs 1/3 the cost of Concrete.....but lasts only 1/4 the amount of concrete

so in the long run, we are poluting the land, and its costs more...and the liberals love it

The problem is that the taxes in US are higher or comparable with what people pay in Europe. But they don't spend the money on "stimulus" or wars... they offer incentives to companies that create jobs there (so they won't cry that their jobs are outsourced) and build their infrastructure. And another thing that I don't get is that US spends the same percentage as most of the European countries on healthcare but there is no universal healthcare. Something is wrong somewhere.

Is more expensive to maintain a concrete highway!

The infrastructure in the U.S. certainly isn't perfect but the hype-meter is pegging when it's describes as crumbling, this thing makes it sounds there are millions without power and one can't cross a bridge with fear for life.
Our country has many bridges that are dire need of repair and replacements. There are some bridges that ARE actually crumbling. The Tappan Zee Bridge that connects eastern and western New York state across the Hudson River is one of the more prominent examples.

If you travel across the country some states have roads that are badly in need of repair or need to updated and expanded for safety reasons and to reduce congestion.

We are also one of the few industrial powers in the world without a high speed rail system. Such a system could be an economic game changer in terms of how people live and work.

This really doesn't strike you until you travel to other countries and see how modern and up to date their infrastructure is.

Yep it was bi partisan that they took the gas money for infrastructure and spent it on other purposes. And it was bi partisan that they spent SSI money on other purposes and filled it with IOU's {treasuries} any body see a trend here? Funny how the parties appear to be in opposition but can get together to rob funds from their intended purposes.
I think Matt Taibi had it right when he penned " when they are on CPAN and the camera's are on they look like they are in fierce opposition. But when the lights are off and behind closed doors they f*** like minks in heat "

Don't blame crumbling infrastructure on tax cuts.

It's an indictment on everyone. Past and present politicians for not allocating money for improvements. The people for not holding the politicians feet to the fire.

Government has no problem spending money. They choose not to spend it on our infrastructure.

Well, let's be fair. Bo putting forth a 50B infrastructure plan to stimulate "more jobs" for Americans.
