Wow, I can't believe that people think we can do away with the FDA and the Dept. of Agriculture! We have one of the safest farm-to-market systems in the world and that didn't come along by accident. With the big factory farms now days it's more important than ever because they could literally kill 1/4 of our population in one contamination event. Yes, people are still dying with ecoli even with the D. of A. but we have an agency that can back track to where contaminations are coming from and get warnings out to people to lessen the amount of deaths that occur. Do you really think self-regulation is going to put an end to greedy and unsafe farm practices just because they can get sued? That assuming a private citizen would even be able to trace their ecoli back to its source without something like the D of A. which they couldn't do.
Some people just don't think things out at all. Without a government we would be in a world of hurt. Sure the government we have now is no where near perfect but if we didn't have any... Good post.

People have become so infantized into thinking that we need the government to take care of us at every turn. Wake up and think things through. How did we ever exist without this bloated federal government?
The self same government that allows, nay encourages manufacturers to use HFC (one of the major causes of the growing obesity problem in this country) in so many processed foods? The same government that bends to the corn lobbyists? THAT government?
I haven't watched the clip so not sure what Beck said exactly - but as far as holding those who feed them responsible, yes, they ARE enablers.
Once these people get to a size where they can't go get their own food etc, feed them HEALTHY food ONLY. "You want junk/fried food? Go get it yourself, otherwise, here's your SALAD"

The FDA has systematically approved the addition of chemicals to our food that are toxic and have been linked directly to serious health conditions. Pharmaceutical companies have their hands in everything concerning health and health care...the sicker we get, the more money they make on their chemicals...the more chemicals and toxic things the FDA approves for food, the sicker we get...it's all about money.
The sad truth is, most people don't know what a truly healthy diet is, because even the food pyramid hanging in virtually every classroom across America is telling us a lie. Humans should not be eating animal-based diets, period. The myth about needing meat for protein and dairy for calcium is just that...a myth. But spraying herbicides/pesticides on the plants we consume means they no longer contain the living enzymes necessary for boosting immune system function, and the chemicals sprayed during the growing process makes them not only devoid of most of their original nutritional value, but actually toxic and unhealthy for whoever consumes them.
In short, if our immune systems are working at optimum levels, we don't get cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc...and the only way to ensure that we are functioning at optimum levels is to provide our bodies with those living enzymes present in organically-grown, herbicide and pesticide-free fruits, grains, & veggies.
You eat too much, you become obese, you pay for your own healthcare. Kind of a no=brainer for me.
How about other lifestyles that are bad for health such as smoking, heavy drinking, medication abuse, driving while intoxicated, lack of exercise, etc........... Should these people also pay for their own healthcare?
We don't need big government nanny state to take care of us. If a company sells tainted meat, they will go out of business with lawsuits. The catch is that the government shouldn't prevent citizens from bringing lawsuits against corporations for situations just like this. Big business is just as bad as big government.
Aren't people still dying today from bad drugs and ecoli contamination WITH our dear FDA and Dept. of Agriculture????

You just hit the nail on the head. These people didn't catch what he said or how he said it. They are such haters that they just can't back off no matter what is going on.
