"Congress may control deficits but Bush created the deficit"

When one presents such contradictory information in the same sentence, it is difficult to "persuade" or "convince" such a person of anything.

For those with a weak background in civics 101, congress controls spending. It is a pretty simple concept.

It is hopeless "debating" against this guy.

If he contends that no one but the rich recieved a tax cut under Bush, then he surely will not mind if Obama lets those non existent tax cuts for the middle class expire on Jan 1st. Why care? They are just imaginary, after all.
Tax cuts will be extended for 98% of incomes...

Still drinking the Kool-Aid?

Cap & Tax will hit everyone if passed. You will be paying more taxes for Obamacare but they will be hidden away neatly so as not to startle the lemmings. Financial transaction taxes, higher federal fuel and/or mileage taxes, you 401K being seized so that everyone can have Socialized retirement......the list of Progressive wants just keeps piling on the taxes.

Obama's tax hikes have not kicked in yet but don't worry, they are coming soon. I wonder if they'll tax your Kool-Aid too (sugary substance drinks)?

Well the latest set of blogs/opinions have Congress so deadlocked over this that what they may end up doing is a one year extension of the cuts for all while they try to figure out what to really do.

Shades of AMT ? That has never really been fixed and gets an emergency bandaid almost each year. There were a few years where Congress failed to act and that pulled in many middle class income earners (I got hit with AMT twice because Congress failed to act in time).
