I believe you're mistaken. And being offended is everyone's right - that doesn't mean a term rises to the level of hate speech.
Well I certainly don't. I'm a proud liberal. I think it's funny that rightwingers think "progressive" is now an insult -- as if progress is a dirty word
I find most terms used by leftists such as yourself to be a way to soften the realities of your ideology.
Progressives aren't progressive, they are throwbacks to a failed ideology with a new name hoping to fool idiots.
Are you really feeling confident in our government or do you sleep soundly at night in firm opposition to only the Republican influence upon our society? If I had a gun, it'd be under my pillow at night in severe doubt of the intentions of both major parties and those in influence of the choices they are supposed to be making in support of our country.
Actually,I believe quite a few leftists DO sleep well at night and would like nothing better than to silence any and all opponents.

It is the way they work.
I don't believe that consciences are the sole property of the right. We're not willing to sacrifice our rights to solve everyone's problems while legislating ourselves into a submissive position to government, therefore we are cold, heartless and ruthless to some. I think the sound nights of sleep are short lived, eventually everyone sees the price we pay, especially when someone comes to collect.
"Left" or "Right", throwing words as a weapon is as ridiculous/juvenile as being offended by them.
Derrogatory labels have an effect. My confusion lately, has been from the offense taken when someone throws the socialist notion out there and it's trated as though someone was whipping the word ni--er out in a Baptist church. It's an economic philosophy, PEOPLE!

That brings up those that scream that socialisim is Evil, all the while drawing their SS and Medicare Benefits.

With all the words and labels that are considered hate speech and slurs in today's world, why have liberals taken to the double entendre term "Teabaggers" to show their HATE of the Tea Party Movement.
Just watch the smirks and smiles as liberal commentators use the term to describe a political movement.
Even this Forum puts up with this term for now as acceptable. No asterisks on the above term. Come on liberals lets hear your rationalizations for the term in question. Get ready for the hate because here it comes.
Even our wonderful President likes to use the term describing the oral fondling of male genitalia. Thanks for the change Mr President. I guess if the Pres can use the term its not hate speech yet.
I guess its sticks and stones for the Teabaggers but libelous slander for the "you decide"
Seems harmelss and actually sort of funny.
I mean, it's better than the right wing, who uses the word "liberal" in every other sentence like it's another word for Satan or something.

The utterance of the word somehow brings down those in admiration of socialist concepts? It would be more effective to stand up for what you believe in, rather than making it a crime to bring it up. Being up front is always more honorable than being sneaky.

At least teabagger is clever.
Liberal has a more historic meaning than Mr. Ferrel's term. Liberal's were probably concerned when that kid in 6th grade told them their epidermis was showing, do they freak out at spelling bees as well?

The tea baggers are intolerant of the teabaggers.
