This is a most interesting piece. I just got around to finishing an article in Newsweek on Robert Gates and his attempts to cut spending in the Pentagon. I've always kind of liked Gates as he seemed pragmatic to me and after reading this, I say kudo's to the guy.

What Gates Plans to Do Before He Leaves Office - Newsweek

I can't wait to see what happens between the Tea Party movement and the GOP post elections, should be interesting and very telling.

I don't agree to funding wars unless we're being attacked, and I don't agree with the rich not paying their fair share like everyone else. Entitlement programs need to be reformed and abusers of them punished, and money spent supporting illegal aliens needs to be eliminated.

The funny thing is. After the chickens come home to roost. After all these Trillions spent on needless wars, (defense spending is 55% of discretionary spending), after lowering taxes on the wealthy.(the biggest factor in increasing size of National debt) After all this comes crashing down....they'll blame liberals..for some social spending on the middle class that doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the scheme of things.

Umm..Welfare is a HANDOUT going to those usually don't work. Tax cuts for the wealthy are for people who actually work and produce goods and services for the country. There's a HUGE difference between the two!

Have you ever been employed by a poor person?

You run with that. Have your candidates run on that. Your side will be voted out of office so quick you head will spin.

Voted out by who? Welfare recipients? Whiney liberals who think everyone who doesn't want to work is "entitled" to the money made by those of us who work our asses off? Is that a system that makes you proud?

I really think the producers are going to have to "go Galt" to starve the entitlement beast; even then, the parasites just won't "get it".
