All you left leaners need to read all of some posts so you can see what is there. I don't know why one of the leading progressives (socialists) of the early 20th century said these things about the Road We Are Traveling but for some reason it seems that he did say these things were coming if we continued on FDR's road and we have done so. That list was made by Stuart Chase, not me. Maybe you need to read up on Stuart Chase to learn what he said and why. Naw, that wouldn't allow you to attack me because I don't know the difference between socialism and fascism.
One of you even suggested that I go back to school to learn the difference in the two beliefs but I am sure that he did his schooling long after I did mine and I don't need any progressive thinking that wasn't so prevalent in schools in the 40s and 50s when I did most of my schooling.
I have enjoyed being attacked by people who didn't take the time to read all of my post so keep coming as I will enjoy it even more, now.
I don't mind progressive thinking. What's the alternative? Stagnant or reactionary thinking?
Fascism is the appropriate form of government for the Haves and Have Mores. They use the government to subsidize their companies and defend their monopolies as well as insure their finances from speculative losses. Sound familiar?
Sorry, but the posters above me are right--that list describes a mixture of some of the tenets of both socialism and communism--not fascism, which is the polar opposite in many ways. Socialism pretty much limits those concepts to the economy, while communism includes both the economic and political system. Communism and fascism actually have more in common (totalitarian government, etc.) Despite having "socialist" in their party name, the Nazis were violently opposed to what they described as "liberalism, democracy and communism." They were fascists--it's a form of radical, extreme conservatism. The videos above pretty much listed out the basic tenets of fascism well...it hits way closer to home in terms of the current political climate in this country than any comparison to socialism or communism ever could. That's why so many people who really value democratic ideals are very concerned about the rise of the tea party within the republican party, the neocon republicans, and the movement of this country toward radical right wing extremism. It's also why people like me (what I would call a traditional, old school republican, and you would call a Rino) find it outright unbelievable that we'd be routinely called "liberal socialist/communists" (the favorite label on this board).
Here, let me help you out so you'll understand what Fascism really is. This is right from the horses mouth: Benito Mussolini, the father of modern Facism.
“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”
By that definition, it's already here, thanks to the efforts of the Reagan/Bush wing of the Republican Party and the Clintonites in the Democratic Party.
This part of that quote I'll agree with: "The president has packed his economic team with Wall Street insiders..."
The sad fact is that the financial system is so controlled by...SURPRISE!...bankers that no outsider can really understant, let alone regulated it, except...SURPRISE!...bankers. It's a Catch 22 problem.
This part of it don't necessarily agree with: "intent on turning the bailout into an all-out giveaway"
That's an editorial comment, a conclusion drawn by whomever wrote it, and not necessarily related the first part of the quote. In fact, it's a perfect example of spin, of how a simple, factual statement can be easily turned to political advantage by inserting an opinion right into the same sentence.

Fox does it all the time. Watch for it.
How many minutes per day do you watch Fox? Not many I would say but you can find all you need by going with MM, HuffPo, Kos, CAP and others like that. Never watch them when you can get all you want from those left leaning places.
The book has bugger all to do with Fascism, please TRY to get your facts right just for once rsb.
Then again as Sid2001 pointed out, you obviously don't know what fascism is, do you.
Whatever you do please don't read the link I served up for you in the OP. It was the man who wrote that who said fascism, not me. Oh well, you people have to attack the messenger any way you can and not one word yet about the points of socialism that Chase pointed out would come into being and have now.
I guess you didn't see that he also wrote a little book entitled A New Deal that is FDR's plan right down the line. Why yes, Chase did develop the New Deal and he was a socialist, at that. He published that book in 1932 before the election put FDR in office. He also served as the top economic advisor to FDR.
