the other day a guy on facebook threw a little hissy fit because so many people were "disrespecting" President Barack Obama by not using the word "President" before his name...and simply calling him "Obama" was disrespectful no matter your affiliation/party.
he went on to ask when all this came about...is this a new thing, or has it been going on for a while?

Obama was probably being hammered for one or another of his failures and this complaint was a desperate atttempt to deflect.
I remember President Nixon being referred to as "Nixon". I think when a President is immensely disliked, his last name is used more and more, and I think this piece of s--t we have in the Whitehouse now makes Nixon look better and better. Come to think of it, I have a campaign button from the '72 election that says, "President Nixon, Now More Than Ever." Now would be a good time to start wearing it with my "Archie Bunker for President" T-shirt.
