Maybe I won't go as far as to say we should wage war against Mexico -- but certainly there is some hardcore violence that could qualify as terrorist activities going on in the USA, at the US/Mexico border, and within Mexico against US citizens.

With more damage done to us from our neighbor to the South than Iran and Afghanistan combined, why don't we just divert our military resources to take down the war lords and clean up our borders? Who cares what the Mexican government wants or thinks - they are mostly corrupt anyways and we won't be doing the world any favors by pretending that we don't see any of these atrocities done on US soil.

Besides, being our neighbors (by land, air, and sea) we stand a good chance at a fast and easy victory. Strike the fear of God into the criminals and rid the Americas of a pestilence.

Stimulate the economy with a war that will actually have some long-term benefits.

Americans could stop buying their drugs. That would essentially make them poor and powerless.

Somehow I don't think you're going strike fear into people that will go as far as cutting off a rival cartel members face and sewing onto a soccer ball just to get a message across.

As though it were that simple... you're right to a small extent. If they were all holed up in a couple of remote lairs, it'd be fairly simple to "win."

But, they aren't.

So, good luck with that.

Absoutely right, as pissed as most of us are about the illegal situation, if Americans did not need their Drugs, a lot of this would not be happening, stop the damn drugs, a lot of these problems would cease, supply and demand, no demand guess what!

Yes, the Mexican people will welcome us with flowers, just like they did in Baghdad....right?

How would YOU have felt if Canada had sent in their troops to fight acid rain, back when US power plants were poisoning Ontario? The idea is the same, so would you have welcomed them?

Oh...by the way...if you're so hot to start another war, will you be the first to enlist?

Damned Mexican drug lords are stealing honest jobs from American drug lords. How are American mobsters like Frank Lucas and Tony Soprano supposed to compete?

The problem is that the Mexican drug cartels are so entrenched that they are the country. They control just about everything.

We can invade, but we would need up to 600,000 troops that we don't have ... then again conscription and the manufacturing of additional weapons, equipment, uniforms, etc would help the economy big time. If we want to invade Mexico we would either need to 1) introduce conscription or 2) totally withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan.
