If the average person had more compassion, there wouldn't be so many broken individuals in this country in prison and on death row anyway.
You must be young, very young.

Its America where we fight for the right of every fetus to grow up and die a soldier fighting them there and there and there and there and there and there and there so we don't have to fight them here, where the breaking news of such a story might interrupt American Idol or Ice Road Truckers.

Yup. Pretty much. There and there and there, there will always be a problem for US forces to solve. And Americans will watch with as much rapt attention as they give to Real Housewives, or American Idol. News sources allow Americans the privilege of feeling informed while often being somewhat entertained. I cannot fathom how our nation would cope in a real crisis.

Sounds like a good fictional tale to spread around to justify welfare but where do you think the name Sodom comes from? Also why the inclusion in the Bible of the story of the men of Sodom surrounding Lot's house and demanding the three men angels so that they could "know them."

Sorry but there is no indication in the Bible that God's destruction of Sodom or Gomorrah was because they failed "to take care of the poor" but there is plenty to indicate He did not like their sexual habits.

I've been there (Albuquerque 1990s.)

The last "unfortunate" I helped with jobs, food and cash stole over $1,000 in tools from me. This is a 30 year old man (about twice my size) who gets SS every month.

The vast majority of Americans blindly idolize the troops even when they willingly go fight unjust wars for the Man (not bashing all troops here, just saying you can't totally absolve them of responsibility, especially if they joined post-2001).

Many if not most Americans believe that if you trespass, you deserve to die for it if the land owner wants to kill you, even if you're not threatening them and start running away. And I'm sure many Americans would think the death penalty is a suitable punishment for illegal immigrants.

IDK, it's just plain sick to me. And I'm an American!! Maybe my generation will be different?

citizens of the USA used to be alot more forgiving and compassionate, but the fedgov and their stealing of the peoples money in the form of taxes and the never ending growth of goverment has all but put a stop to forgiveness and compassion.

If you are a teen, it will be no different. We still have 50K troops in Iraq and 100K in Afghanistan, Americans are being raised to have contempt for those who are not white and/or of the Christian religion.

Even though Christians may feel persecuted in Israel (not anything like Palestinians) , FOX News and the corporate media have trained conservatives to have slavish devotion to Israel. And if you are a teen or young adult, the choice of the military is the choice of learning how to dehumanize those different than you thru military force, in their own country.

The police state we live in, the torture we sign off on, has consequences. Long term.

Have you looked at the border any time lately? Mexicans are getting shot right and left in cities like Juarez but it's other Mexicans killing them. In fact nothing stops the killers from coming over but many are running to the USA because their own side is the violent one.

Political correctness is absurd. Now the liberals have rewritten the bible and are trying to use it to promote socialism, and have no clue what the story of Sodom and Gomorrah was actually about.

You only give them money you have to spare? Isn't that rather greedy of you? You don't give up video games or internet access or work 2 jobs to support them?

You might be young but why aren't you giving up space in your bedroom for a few homeless people? Maybe you could sleep on a cot and let a homeless guy have your bed.

The combined welfare programs in the USA are extremely expensive and the taxpayers of this country are giving up more than a little spare change for the so-called poor.
