A comment was made that America is a right of center nation. My response was that even if the republicans pick up a ton of seats, the end result is that the Congress will still be split pretty much 50/50--that as many people (or close) still support the democratic party agenda over the republicans. There isn't the overwhelming conservative majority in this country, even if they pick up a bunch of seats, that many here are trying to claim.

If you find that a "right wing" position, then I'm dying to hear your definition of liberal.
What s/he said makes perfect sense to me. His last sentence was probably just what s/he feels Americans are thinking when talking to someone about politics, or pretty much anything these days.

I do think however that there are more American liberals than what this board and the media might suggest, but some of them might keep it to themselves, just like communists, socialists, atheists, pro-choicers etc. had better not state their views in the US. In my view typical leftists tend to be more the intellectual type, not so much the confrontational, loud type boasting their views.

I evidently completely misunderstood what he was trying to say--my apologies.

It isn't that people are unable to form their own opinions and must therefore have them created for them, but rather there is comfort and solice in knowing that others share your opinion.

Also, another benefit to talk radio hosts (whether conservative or liberal) is their ability to present an arguement from an angle that one may not have even considered.

So you're saying they give the Viagra to the Dominican boys to do them, instead of taking the Viagra themselves and doing the Dominican boys?
