It's not a free speech issue. I'm perfectly free to go around at work telling everyone what an idiot the boss is, but there's no "free speech" protection against the consequences.
Ask Imus or Limbaugh - any employee can be disciplined for anything unless they have some kind of specific contractual protection. Even then, it's a legal issue, not a free speech issue.
Difference is, NPR gets public funding, and they didn't fire Totenberg for saying something far worse. They are using tax dollars and pushing a left wing agenda and aer hypocrites.

I'm not defending NPR - I mentioned the Totenberg contrast in post #334.
I'm just saying his freedom of speech as guaranteed by the first amendment has not been violated in any way:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
If his constitutional rights had been violated, you can bet the ACLU would be all over it.
Of what use is this supposed freedom of speech if companies are allowed to fire you? In today's economic environment the only ones with real freedom of expression are those who never will need to work again, mainly the wealthy and the elderly.

Oh please, like the ACLU cares about any non liberal issue? Do you think they defend anyone's second amendment rights?
