Abdirizak Daud, 40, moved to Minneapolis 18 years ago before coming to Portland in 2006. He hasn't been able to find a job. Some of his nine children have attended Portland schools, and he'd like to have a say in who's looking over the school system and the city, he said. But between his limited English and the financial demands, Daud hasn't been able to become a citizen.
I have to ask. Why on earth if this dude has been here for 18yrs, is his English still limited??? This makes ME insane!

No way no how. No voting rights for non-citizens, ever! Funny only the bluest of cities allow this. They probably know that immigrants are very highly likely to vote Democrat. Go figure

Biggest opposition to this is that those people are less likely to watch FOS "news", so they obviously would not be able to make good choices in their local issues.

Actually since you probably don't know, the Democrat Party has a very very long history of corruption and trying to sway elections their way by enticing immigrants to vote for them. You know, those political machines of yore that ran New York, Chicago, etc.? All of them were Democrats and their trick was to make the fresh new immigrants vote for them by promising them jobs and other goodies Same strategy, different tactics today Liberals have this obsession with diluting the concept of being an American. Of course this is part of the Progressive strategy to cheapen American citizenship and promote the concept of "world citizenry"
This issue if far more a problem than just being reported on a news channel you disagree with.
The non citizen should never be granted voting rights on any grounds.
They are municipal issues that the local communities have a right to decide if the non citizen, yet involved, person should be able to vote on. I thought you RWers were in favor of local community rights to choose. I guess that's only if they choose what you agree with.

There is a long history of it, it started in 1776. Non Citizens could vote in Fed elections back then.
