Dad: Dog That Killed Baby 'Very Loving' - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville (http://www.news4jax.com/news/25516673/detail.html - broken link)

So sad!

And in a separate attack on Monday, a 5 yr. old Florida boy was attacked by a pit bull who then was shot after charging at police officers.

I know that even if 10 children were fatally attacked by pit bulls in Florida on the same day, there are those people who would continue to say, "It's all about how you raise them."

Yet, as the number of children severely wounded or killed by this particular breed continues to rise, those words sound more hollow.

I think they should ban any further breeding of pitbulls and let the breed just die out in this country.

Dogs are like guns.

You should have to go through training to buy one, they should be registered, and its the owners responsibility to make sure they are kept in a safe place.

Dogs are wolves, and as such can just snap for any reason. Sure, a basset hound isn't likely to kill someone, but its possible.

Pitbulls are just a more dangerous breed. Its not the breed itself, its the owners who didn't train the dog properly.

Just sad and horrible. R.I.P.

They are banned on Military housing installations, along with other breeds deemed aggressive....

My dog was 1/2 Pitbull and 1/2 Collie,

so he'd rip your arms off

...and then he'd run for help

WTH!

Watch Judge Joe on TV sometimes.

Every idiot that is in court cuz his pit bull attacked another human or another dog insists their dog is harmless.

No matter what breed of dog you have, they should never be left unattended with children. That is the biggest mistake with all of these incidents. These dogs aren't born with instincts to kill - they have to be taught that. I still am very much against banning a breed. I think that the parents should be held accountable. I would never leave my dogs alone with any children even though one is a therapy dog. It is just common sense and a simple way that I can ensure that tragedy will never happen. When will people learn?

The parents left a newborn on a bed...alone... with a dog in the same room. Most dogs get confused and wouldn't know what to do with a squirming, possibly whimpering, crying little baby and what do most predators do in situations like that? They forcibly stop it from making noise. It's not rocket science, people.

YOU DON'T LEAVE A CHILD ALONE IN A ROOM WITH A DOG, PERIOD. I don't care what breed it is. The pit bull is a terrier, and terriers go after rodents and other small animals...newborns included. The stupidity of that poor newborns parents got it killed.

I wouldn't even leave a 3 day old baby alone in a room with a cat let alone a dog, MUCH less a pitbull

Pitbull owners lack common sense.
