Just wondering. Wouldn't that be considered a same sex marriage? Are transgendered people legally recognized as the sex they were born with?

In the US after SRS they can change their sex on their birth certificate, however this leaves a big hole for people who don't want or can't have genital surgery. In the UK it makes no difference.

I wonder where intersex people stand?

I think it depends upon the situation. They even have rules about this for purposes of registering with the selective service. I think female to males are not required to register.

Also, do their car insurance rates immediately drop upon becoming a female?

An adult person of any gender or physical configuration of their genitalia should be able to marry any other adult person of any gender or physical configuration. I mean really, what does it matter? Does two men getting married suddenly cause all the heterosexual marriages to fail? Does a transgendered person marrying someone of the same gender they were originally born with nullify all the marriage licenses of every christian heterosexual couple in the world? No, the bottom line is that who someone else marries has no bearing on who you are married to, or if your marriage will succeed or fail.

There should be no gender bias in marriage.

Exactly, and thats how it is in the UK.

Reminds me of a story I was told once (by a ts friend) about an American guy who wanted to marry his thai ladyboy girlfriend. Well he couldn't get her a visa because they weren't married, and the only way they could was if she got SRS. Well neither of them wanted that (guys that like ts girls usually prefer them pre-op) and as a result they eventually split up.

Not even sure what the question you're asking is, to be honest. You're either born a man or a woman--it's pretty obvious from day 1 what it is--not what you "feel you are".

What about people who are born intersex or with ambiguous genitalia?

That's a very different situation, and that's a legitimate medical situation where the person should be allowed to choose one sex or the other. But the vast vast majority are people born one sex, thinking they are the other, which is mental illness. It's completely different than people who were born as hermaphrodites, but the PC people think they are the same situation, which it absolutely is not.
