We're getting there. Except here in America men aged 20-34 will be heterosexual virgins who sleep with their own sex.

But, actually most adults can let these things roll off their back. And, most children can too. When it becomes excessive, an adult can usually step in and help resolve the situation.

When it escalates to the level of an actual assault, of course something more is needed and I still maintain that that intervention ("warnings" "disciplinary actions") should be handled at the local level. I do not believe we need or would benefit from a federally mandated intervention to protect specific groups.
this is almost disgusting. this entire thread is riddled with posters that are the softest on bullies or don't think bullying is that serious. the ones that are the most are the ones who are ironicly the ones crying or the most cowardly to any slight or insult to themself but preach others should be able to let it roll off their shoulders. it's ridiculous. you aren't fooling me that it didn't bother you. btw, what i stated wasn't even bullying which says a lot about you but i have a suscipicion that you would be softer on more aggressive but 'typical' behavior.

it's this inanity that creates a stupid society. there is something called "gradients" of behavior. you can't stifle speech, disagreements or insults which would be ridiculous but there is a level of behavior that is not acceptable which it is clear to anyone with a modicum of sanity, common sense or honesty.

i would have to say to you: grow a backbone just as you are telling others to do.

I think anti-bullying laws is going to have a LOT of unintended consequences... so its basically bad... the real object here is to get schools, kids, and parents talking... if the "kid" is an adult in college, perhaps having mediators in the school that take their jobs seriously... you don't need to make laws when common sense and just TALKING can fix things... sometimes we have arrogant teachers/principals that don't participate, fire them through a grievance process if the situation isn't immediately addressed... expulsion of a bully isn't that hard...

I doubt we need more laws. Whatever happened to teaching one's children kindness and empathy?

americans are amusing.

you constantly hear americans complaining about kids being too disrespectful and parents being too permissive, kids out of control and irresponsible, yet they balk at the idea that even teenagers which damn well know what they are doing by this stage would have to be held accountable even in the slightest. we must talk to them and coddle them and tell them it's not that bad, it's no big deal. what a contradiction. that is sissyish and turning them into sissies. why? because they are taught they don't really have to take responsibility or can do whatever they want. but all of a sudden after the day of graduation, they are supposed to. this makes a lot of sense.

even worse, they are at a public institution with other people which have a right to enforce some basic and common rules of civil behavior, what a parent allows at home is their business but these parents have the audacity to think that the institution is supposed to be lenient for their brats even if it's affecting other children negatively who have every right to be there to learn and not be harassed because of their poor or unwilling to parent or take responsiblity for their kid's behavior!

it's just amazing how stupid most people are and that's why you have a stupid society.

good luck with that. lol

I agree with you on the fact that "there is a level of behavior that is not acceptable which it (sic) is clear to anyone with a modicum of sanity, common sense or honesty." And thus, we do not need the federal government spelling it out for us. When the line is crossed, there are already laws in place to deal with violators. What's the problem?
