GE is rich enough that the American taxpayer shouldn't have to fund their purchases. Simple enough.

Our economy is held hostage by(not buy.. that is for a purchase)the $75B a month drain on our economy. Pickens has that right and we need to wake up and make a change. Jimmy Carter tried to get us off foreign oil in the 70's to have Reagan reverse all he did and increase our dependence...
Ever heard the oil industry? It was created right here in the USA. We have the ability to produce all the oil we need - right in in our hemisphere. But government won't allow it.

I am please Tesla opened the LA plant and have high hopes for the sedan they are producing. It is a good thing. and a new industry wants to explode... Want new American jobs... invest in the green energies and get the gov to do the same... a few B spent will generate much more in benefits... just like the cash for clunkers. which totally revitalized the car industry. and was a drop in the bucket... best money we ever spent. small investment helped economy, auto industry and jobs...
What a load of tripe......

Let us pretend that GE only purchases 10K Chevy volts at $41K each. Is it prudent use of taxpayer funds that $410 million be spent so that GE can field a new sales fleet? Really?
If this saves even ONE American soldier's life from future fossil fuel wars (Afghanistan and Iraq, best examples), then yes I support this. I encourage this political agenda with our tax money to put any and all fossil fuels out of business! Oil and coal barons have run Washington DC for too long now. We will be out of the deficit and debt as long as we, as a nation, pursue, develop and invest in Clean Energy infrastructure/technology jobs that stay here in America.

i think it would be great if GE bought 10-20K or so vehicles to help out GM, and paid the non-taxpayer-subsidized price to demonstrate their faith in this new technology.
