Actually prior to the communist takeover of Cuba, Black Cubans were relegated to the lower end of the socio-economic scale in Cuba. Keep in mind that Black Cubans are the descendents of slaves and European Cubans were their owners. That economic dynamic existed in Cuba for hundreds of years and Cubans of European descent tended to look down upon Black Cubans.

When Cuba immigrants came to Miami there was tension between the Cuban community and the Black American Community. Cubans were not segregated and were given many economic and social opportunities that were denied Black Americans until the Civil Rights Movement. The Cuban business community in Miami tends to promote their own interest at the exclusion Black Americans and Haitian immigrants.

Also all Mexican hate Black American. Most of the discord between Mexican Americans and Black Americans is among newer Mexican immigrants.

Allen West may be a staunch conservative, but he doesn't seem to play along with the whole "socialism/communism" rhetoric being spewed by the fringe groups. He is a rational individual and who would have had my vote if I lived in his district. He is what black conservatives should strive to be opposed to Alan Keyes type characters...

A Racism forum is a good idea. Then when the inevitable false racist charges pop up on POC (as they always do when even libs know they don't have anything else to go on), they can be moved to the Racism forum.

I am a conservative and most of the hispanics you list are white hispanics, and they hardly look like most of the migrant workers I run into in the store who just came across the border.

I don't know if the Republicans electing all these "minorities" really means as much as people are trying to make it out to be.

I think the Republicans need to start focusing on other issues than trying to prove they are just as tolerant as the Democrats. The Republicans will never get the minority vote in the same numbers as Democrats.

It is time for Republicans to start acting conservative instead of treating elections as if they are racial head counts.

Which party speaks for the white majority? Neither of them do. We keep celebrating the day this country becomes majority nonwhite without looking at the ramifications of that.

White people created this country. America is a product of Europeans fleeing Europe with a certain set of ideas that nobody else in the world ever came up with before.

We are stupid and foolish to think that when this country becomes a mish mash of Mexicans, Haitians, Bolivians, Somalians, Saudi Arabians, Indians, Filipinos, and Chinese that it is still going to be the great country it has always been.

Quite frankly I am getting sick and tired about all the celebrating that goes on when more minorities get elected to certain positions. If we were a color blind society then none of that would matter. But the more obvious point is that it is blatant racism towards whites.

White people need to start thinking about the future country they are leaving for their grand kids, and stop spending so much time trying to prove how they aren't racist.

By the way, if a minority candidate would come along who would end ALL Third World immigration, I would vote for him/her. He/she would have more gonads than the average white politician.

Don't forget, too, that the only real interest Dems show in education for the black demographic is to continuously remind them that they absolutely cannot have school choice/vouchers to escape their horrendous inner-city public schools. The inner-city black demographic is literally captive to Dem ill will, and for whatever reason, they continue to vote for their oppressors.

Where I live school choice is a hot topic because so many black parents are no longer accepting the dangerous drug infested under-performing public schools the Democrat's incestuous relationship with the NEA has produced. They are flooding Charter schools and I would think welcome a voucher system like the one BO ended in DC. This interest in their children's education obviously goes hand in hand with a deterioration of the victim mentality Democrats have worked so had to instill in their most reliable constituency. It's a classic case of the the hand people hold being the hand that holds them down and a divorce is in order.
Excellent! I see you've covered the same point!

I've only seen a trickle of blacks at the Tea Party events I've attended, but as more and more discover the magnitude of the left's slander against people who want the same things they do, like all things race related in America, change will eventually come.

I'm not that familiar with Scott, but I am with West, and I like him. America needs new blood; a leader with vision and character. I'll be keeping an eye on West, Rubio and the rest of our new minority representatives. The best thing that could possibly happen to the GOP is a flood of new black, Latino and female conservatives to shake things up going into 2012.

Like i always say, let a Republican talk long enough.....

But of course, this is a minority (no pun intended) view in the Republican Party right? As much as i like Pat Buchanan, he's said everything this poster said in some variation.

Why? Because the GOP will promote our "interests?" What are our interests, since you seem to know so much about who we should be voting for?

Know when i'll be happy? When non-blacks quit obsessing about who we vote for. Our vote is out business and we don't have to justify it to anybody. Worry about your vote and we'll worry about our own individual votes. Hell, i'm black, and who another black man votes for isn't my business either...let alone yours!

Thanks for saying all of that. The Republican party is out of breath talking about how many white "minorities" are being elected. Yet, when a Dem POTUS picks his cabinet, the Republicans are always scrutinizing that there is an affirmative action agenda going on in the selection process. The Republicans should just stay racist like they always have been.

Rubio is not a minority. He's a white guy whose family came from a country that spoke Spanish. That adds.... what? to the diversity of the Congress? I guess he gets "minority cred" for being "latino?" Can't say there's much in common between him and the guys from Guatemala that mow the grass though....

I am willing to bet he's one of the Miami Cubans whose families are proud to trace their lineage directly back to Spain without any "tainting" of the gene pool.
