Just when I think California voters can't get any dumber.

Deceased Democrat re-elected to State Senate | abc7.com

So determined to vote in a democrat.
They don't read the news.
And they waste a vote.

Wow. I don't know if this is sad, pathetic, funny or just plain disturbing.

Actually, it happens more often than one would think.

It happened a number of years ago in my state:Mel Carnahan (D) elected posthumously to Senate over John ********(R). His wife Jean served his term.

Of course, I believe it is only democrats who are elected after death, probably comes from the number of dead constituents whose ballots magically appear in the absentee pile.

Well now broke California has to pay for a special election thanks to the dems.

They got what they wanted which is to hand pick who replaces her.

They didn't waste a vote. They forced a special election. They had a choice, to vote for the deceased candidate and force a special election, or to vote in her opponent. They didn't want her opponent to take office unopposed, so they voted to have a special election in the near future.

The voters got what they wanted. A special election. It's what they deserve. It's not the voters' fault that the candidate died just two weeks before the election. The voters should have a choice. The voters wanted a choice. That's what their vote reflected.

Weekend at Bernies....

Prop her up in her office and let journalists in every now and then to take photos.

Now if only we could do that to Congress....

Not toooo unusual.

Back in the 80's or so my cousin ran for the local - great - state Senate. A couple of weeks before the election, the Democrat incumbent died but still won the election. Cousin did not become State Senator.
