Should your kids be taken away if you let them get obese?

Places like SF want to ban Happy meals rather than expect parents to parent...

Why not take it a step further and classify obesity as child abuse?

Go after the food companies to get rid of HFCS.
That will solve your obesity problem.

They use corn to fatten cattle and this corn derivative is doing the very same to humans.

Something tells me that HFCS isn't the only reason there is obesity.

It's not child abuse, but it is irresponsible.

How is unnecessarily subjecting your child to the possibility of diabetes and heart disease not child abuse?

It would be really nice if they were able to get vigorous exercise at school, but then the trial lawyers started showing up in droves when kids started falling off swings and monkeybars, or getting hit in the nose playing dodgeball, tetherball, or other recess-period sports.

Consequently millions of schools have had their playgrounds turned into enormous patches of grass......

You said it... "possibility".

They are not giving them the actual diseases you mention on purpose; that would be abuse. They are putting their child at risk of getting the diseases; the children could or could not get them. That is very irresponsible.

Maybe they can mandate kids wear tennis helmets at all times?

a lot do get diabetes during childhood. Should they be removed from their parents in that case, or at least is that child abuse?
