I believe being human we do tend to discrminate. Not that it is fair or should be this way but it is just a fact of life.

So yes, just as there is age discrimination there is discrimination against people who are overweight or whatever. Hopefully a good company will have people doing the hiring who can look beyond these things but is it out there, of course it is. Just like it is pretty much a given that if people are equally qualified then the better looking person will land the job.

I agree about "40 years" statement.

Here in Russia you would be struck by that - men at 40 odds are considered already "good for nothing" at new jobs.

People prefer hiring the young? I can't get hired either, though.

I'm agreed with spunky

Like I said, I plan on subsidizing my own business with my pension. Then I’ll know if a 61-year-old (tomorrow) guy will be a “good” employee. I won’t even bother trying to get work at some company and I would never work for Wally world. I have some standards.

The principal question is where to do this. Here in NH or somewhere in NM. Or maybe both.

Interesting subject.
I wonder if this is why our leaders are so pro illegal alien?
Maybe it also explains why so many H1B’s are needed. I know many IT workers that were replaced by these foreigners, and most of them are 40+.

The baby boomers are beginning the retirement process that will go on for the next couple of decades. Once the first wave hits I wonder if these 40-60 workers will begin to look more attractive to these companies? That is the ones still willing to bend over for them.
