According to FEMA, structural elements were exposed to high temperatures for a sufficient period of time to reduce their strength to the point of collapse; nevertheless, it has since been determined that the fires burned out in 20 minutes at any given location as they moved from point to point.
The report did not reach conclusions about the cause of the collapse and called for further investigation:
Loss of structural integrity was likely a result of weakening caused by fires on the 5th to 7th floors. The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue.
there was natural gas lines running throughout the building...there was fuel lines for the back up generators running thoughout the building...there was a ConEd transformer(full of burnable oil) that took up two stories
the fact is the building burned uncontroled for hours, with no water on it.
almost every floor was engulfed in flame
the city engineers said it would collapse , the firemen said it would collapse...are you calling all the firemen liars???

what does FEMA have to due with structural analysis???

In May 2002, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report on the collapse based on a preliminary investigation conducted jointly with the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers under leadership of Dr. W. Gene Corley, P.E. FEMA made preliminary findings that the collapse was not primarily caused by actual impact damage from the collapse of 1 WTC and 2 WTC but by fires on multiple stories ignited by debris from the other two towers that continued unabated due to lack of water for sprinklers or manual firefighting. funny the actual fema report says differently than your conspiracy
FEMA under Department of Homeland Security (2003–present)
Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Congress passed the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which created the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to better coordinate among the different federal agencies that deal with law enforcement, disaster preparedness and recovery, border protection and civil defense. FEMA was absorbed into DHS in 2003. As a result, FEMA became part of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Directorate of Department of Homeland Security, and employs more than 2,600 full time employees.
Looks like FEMA knew too much and was bought out... Now there's a conspiracy for ya...
A word of advice for the truthers - use credible sources. That means no Wikipedia, no CommonDreams, etc. If your college professor wouldn't accept it as a credible source, then nobody else will, either.
Wikipedia's great for finding out the history of your favorite band or to find out the titles of every Simpsons episode or whatever, but when it comes to anything that's controversial or political in nature, it's absolutely useless. You're not doing yourselves any favors by basing large portions of your theory on a website that anybody can make changes to.
Please, carry on. The entertainment value is priceless.

Ok... Since you don't like Wiki... I'll use the official FEMA website...
In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Joe M. Allbaugh as the director of FEMA. Within months, the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11th focused the agency on issues of national preparedness and homeland security, and tested the agency in unprecedented ways. The agency coordinated its activities with the newly formed Office of Homeland Security, and FEMA's Office of National Preparedness was given responsibility for helping to ensure that the nation's first responders were trained and equipped to deal with weapons of mass destruction.
A New Mission: Homeland Security
Billions of dollars of new funding were directed to FEMA to help communities face the threat of terrorism. Just a few years past its 20th anniversary, FEMA was actively directing its "all-hazards" approach to disasters toward homeland security issues. In March 2003, FEMA joined 22 other federal agencies, programs and offices in becoming the Department of Homeland Security. The new department, headed by Secretary Tom Ridge, brought a coordinated approach to national security from emergencies and disasters - both natural and man-made.

yeah and??
it makes sense after the previous admin had cut the budget of agencies like fema, and the copr of engineers
DHS rolling all the agencies into one after FEMA called for further investigation of the collapse of WTC Building 7...
Result... No more questions... Nice and neat... Wouldn't you say?...
uhm
yes fema said there should be an investigation into why the building fell...and there was...by the PROPER authority..the NIST...comprendi
or would you want a foot doctor examining your heart???
