Sure Texas state government is a bit that way, but please don't stereotype - the big cities are all very tolerant and welcoming of all - gays play a huge role in places like Dallas, Houston and Austin.
California and Californians are free to do as they please.
That is the American way.
Guess what?
Bailouts are going to become a thing of the past. Never again.
It is going to be fun watching the clueless in California, try to figure it out and slowly be forced to act in a Conservative way and it will kill them so much.
With the debt of your state I think you need to be paying more
It's so funny reading posts from people who live in states like Florida and not even acknowledging how crippled their own state is fiscally. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Ponder that for a little while homer! duh!

Yes, more wisdom from the Lone Star state in debt up to its ears! California does not need nor desire anything from Texas!
Many Californians dream about leaving the union but that would make the U.S. a boring Midwest and Southern nation like Wisconsin. Too bad but progressive trends go from West to East; get ready for the California wave, homer!
Not sure what the point of the thread is. The GOP has no chance in California? No kidding. Future GOP candidates can save themselves time and money- there's simply no need or reason to campaign there.
Boxer and Brown. Sanctuary cities. Crippling debt. Taj Mahal schools. Growing 'nanny' regulations.
It may come as a shock to you, but the vast majority really are NOT jealous of anything California, except maybe the weather. It's a state that is living the results of unfettered liberalism. To those who enjoy it..good for you. Really. To each his own. But there are a whole lot of people who just shake their heads at it's continuing decline, and even worse..the denial of that decline. Without drastic changes in social and fiscal policies, California will most assuredly reach a tipping point.
So again, I really don't understand the frequent 'California is the greatest' threads that pop up here.
The Los Angeles Times and University of Southern California are probably the best in analyzing California thinking and political trends. Their polling during the election turned out to be the most accurate; on election night the LA Times waited politely for 10 minutes after the polls closed to call the election in favor of the Democratic party and they were correct on every race. So, now this latest poll must be extremely bad news for California Republicans.
"California voters surveyed in the poll repudiated the Republican party's stance on illegal immigration by endorsing a host of positions intended to make it easier for the undocumented to gain legal status. Their support for same-sex marriage outnumbered that opposing any legal recognition by more than 3 to 1. Californians also endorsed an assertive role for government in protecting minority citizens, regulating corporations and helping the poor and needy, and rejected arguments that an activist role for government had harmed the fiber of American society".
Of interest is the number of voters who said that they would NEVER vote for a Republican [20%] and how overwhelmingly liberal those 30 years old or younger, Latinos, women. Also support for President Obama at 64% is one of the highest in the nation.
How is this bad for the GOP?? The NEW Congress can starve California of federal funds until moral improves. Elections have consequences.
Many Californians dream about leaving the union...
No, they don't. It IS slowly turning into Mexico though, which is nothing to be excited about if you enjoy life.
