I'd like to see it replaced with a true Republic. Similar to what it was founded upon.
Right now we have drifted into oligarchy. We need to bring it back to a real Republic.
I'm pretty sure I already said this earlier.
Ok, so we go back and start over?
Any plan to keep the same thing from happening again? After all, if we go back to the starting point and begin the whole process once more, don't you think it very likely that we would inevitably end up in the same place once again? It's like driving from Dallas to Ft. Worth. If you take the same road every time, you always end up in Ft. Worth.
And, just HOW would you accomplish turning the political clock back 200 years?
It sounds so simple when addressed in grandiose, theoretical terms, but the nuts and bolts of actually doing it are far, far more difficult. Also, one must wonder how the government will operate at all during the transition, especially when there is no plan to actually do it.
Does it make an American a "terrorist" because they want to overthrow the U.S. government?
I don't think so. And I think this is very, very fascist thinking to say that someone who stands up against the crooked government is a terrorist.
Knock, knock..... Who's there?....... Fascism!
No, not "terrorist". Treasonous.
"Treason" is the word used for those who advocate the overthrow of the government (which, incidentally, was elected and installed in power by a majority of American citizens regardless of whether you agree with it).
You, therefore, by thinking it would be OK to do so have proven yourself to be anti-American .

Nice, amazing how people forget history in that every autocratic regime called rule by the actual citizens of the country the same thing...and installed a nice new dictator to rule once they toppled it. Amazing how some people who don't seem to have more teeth then brain cells don't see what their advocating is exactly what they are pretending to save people from.
I guess it is so since the first action in working toward any dictatorship is to they disparage, and then get rid of, anyone smart or educated in the country. You can already see Palin and the religious right starting that.

As long as NomadRefugee merely just opines that he's not breaking any law per se (although given the existence of the Patriot Act he's leaving himself very vulnerable to actions from law enforcement and potentially spurious charges).
The minute he, or anyone else with that opinion, starts trying to put his opinion into action, he's committing a crime.
Since when wasn't this country run by the rich and privileged(on every facet of life)?
Can you give an example of "rich and privileged" running every facet of life?
Circa 1890?
Circa 1870?
From my perspective, it's the "rich and privileged" government running every facet of life, right now.
One must get permission (license) to wed, operate a car, engage in certain occupations, operate a business, buy and sell medical treatment and materials, transmit radio signals, fly a plane, and own a dog.
I do not recall that the "rich and privileged" required their permission before we could do these things in the past. But I could be in error.

The rich and privileged had more political power and more rights than anyone else. Grandfather clause? Women not being allowed to vote in many states? Workers in those days were paid relatively poorly. That is why unions were formed. I guess we are talking about totally different things.
