To begin with, just because a person tests positive for drugs doesn't mean that he or she bought them. A friend could have stopped by with some and shared them. Also, as some have pointed out, these tests are not foolproof.

The larger point, indeed the largest point, are their children. If we cut off the food stamps, or welfare benefits of people who test positive for drugs, what happens to their children? Are we going to starve children in order to punish their parents for using drugs, or are we going to take the children away from them and let the state raise them?

Do you know the cost of testing all these people? It would be better to have them perform community service 25 hours a week for their free hand outs...besides it is degrating to a individual and there are ways to cheat the tests. Some of the responders sound so NAPOLEONIC he had bums, panhandlers arrested cleaned them up,gave them jobs if they were unskilled they trained them if they went back to being a bum he encouraged the citizenry to beat them....he hated idleness.

Yes because you know the only people on drugs are "welfare" recipients or "government employees!
As for the "Unemployed" those people paid into the system so they are entitled to their benifits.
If you want to fire drug addicts maybe we can start with Rush Limbaugh!
