Millions dead in 24 hours? loosen up dude. NK likes to talk big but China ultimately controls them and in their best interest will not let it so far as war.

Haha yea right..... a war by proxy is exactly what China would want as it is in their best interest to keep NK strong against the south. China will do anything to prevent a unified Korean peninsula. But that's ok the Chinese love us!

Reunification is part of the long range planning of the South Korean government. This includes having a Ministry of unification:

At this point in time we can no longer afford to be a world sugar daddy.
I don't know about Japan. But in Korea overall the population appreciates and respects the presence of American soldiers, sailors and airmen.

I agree we should reassess our military obligations around the world. But how many Americans are ready for America to give up the role of being the preeminent military power in the world.

What a effing loser! It's time Obama mans the farck up and puts on his big boy underwear and acts like a leader of this country. This is a time where EVERY braincell if there are any left is going to be needed to diffuse this tense situation and worse perservere if war does break out. I dont know what's scarier.....the fact that NK and SK are on the brink of war or that we have such an incompetent President in office. And ti has nothing to do with left vs. right. Americans could find themselves waking up to WWIII on Monday, yes that is not fear monger........world wars have started over much more trivial reasons. Godbless our troops in that area of the world this weekend.
You are being an alarmist. The North Koreans are not building up troops on the DMZ. THAT would be a prelude to any all out war.

Yes this is a tense situation but the South Koreans have been here before and the number of lives saved by cooler heads prevailing will be much greater than any military success to be achieved by attacking North Korea.

china pays the bills and is the reason why we try to avoid it and NK has nuclear weapons that can hit japan and south korea will be blasted with artillary and rockets and our grandparents made a promise to be there for south korea and japan in case of a NK attack this has nothing to do with oil or money but keeping our promise

Key phrase is "Long-term".

The North is decades behind the South technology wise and very underdeveloped. South Korea is virtually a developed nation while North Korea is basically cold Cambodia with a large 1960s Soviet city in the middle.

While I don't think that the brainwashing is as much of a factor as many people think considering that the lies they are told are so over-the-top that the North Korean people need to kept from any outside influence (least they realize that virtually everything they have been told is a lie). However, there is no telling what effect this will have on North Korean society. I imagine it will cause a lot of social problems.

The NKs would not build up troops on the DMZ anyways. So that's a moot point. Second, what is the world going to do.........wait another 50 years and by that time NK will be able to launch a nuclear weapon all over the world. I mean geez.......a country actually poses a clear and present danger/threat to the world and the world sits on its hands and does nothing. I mean listen to some of you. You're the same type of people that probably cheerlead the war on terror and have since 9/11......those big bad evil terrorists who killed 3000 Americans because they hate our way of life and our freedoms...............yet you turn tail and run when it comes to facing a real dangerous threat like North Korea. The US military and America as a country has lost the initiative in the world. That's for sure. We have no problem picking on the little guys but when it comes to an actual threat we talk tough but do nothing. We should have taken care of North Korea in the 1970s or 1980s. Hell even in the 90s we could have done something but instead we had an all talk, schmoozer of a President who not only didn't do crap concerning NK he actually HELPED them build their infrastructure and funded their entire military expansion in the form of foreign aid. Clinton was a slouch. Bush II was even worse considering Rumsfeld's corporations were responsible for selling the necessary gauges and equipment for NK's nuclear reactors. Haha so America talks tough when it comes to wiping out the nuclear ambitions of a modern, progressive country like Iran but yet sits quiet with regards to a country run by a senile, psychotic crazy like Kim Jong Il..........and we wonderm why our country is falling apart...... US military are bullies controlled by corporations not the American people nor do they protect the Constitution.......we are the superpower police of the world yet we can't do anything constructive. Afghanistan is a joke, Iraq is an occupation sucking our money out of our country.......and our southern border is one of the most dangerous places in the world. WAKE THE F'UP AMERICA! Look at the big heaping pile of crap that is sitting in front of you! Jesus!

What the hell is the point of having a $600+ billion dollar defense budget if we aren't going to use it to do some goddamn good in the world.

Screw our grandparents. I don't owe South Korea, nor Japan nor ANYONE jack chit! Neither do my kids. It's time America gets its frucking priorities straight. This is a different world, a different economy than it was when our grandparents went around making promises our country can't afford to keep. We have infrastructure in the United States that is going to take trillions just to maintain............we have a bankrupt social security ponzi scheme system ready to implode.......industry has pretty much become extinct in America.............our public education system is completely failing our children at every turn..........Mexico is about to become a failed state riddled with uncontrollable violence (you could argue it already has)...........do I need to go on?
