Thanks for the info.

And right on none of our business, either. I mean, why did we fight Hitler, it wasn't like he attacked us, right? Live and let live, I say. Eh? Eh? Not like we have a trade agreement with South Korea, eh? Not like we need to take care of our interests or anything. Just let the North steam roll them into oblivion and we can then negotiate with the North. I'm sure that will be better.
My father served in the Korean War and was wounded. Over 40 years later, I was stationed in South Korea. Today, I ask "what the heck for?"
On account of "trade agreements", "our interests"?. I cannot think of a darn thing I want from the Korean peninsula. NOT ONE.

If a US corporation wants to do business in South Korea that is their problem. Why should we spend taxpayers' money to protect the interests of a corporation that is creating jobs in South Korea?

Ever been to any bar outside any US military installation in Korea? Even the "ajimas" and hookers can kick some major butt. South Korea belongs to the south Koreans. I have seen their soldiers up close. They can fight. Let them defend their own (corrupt) country.

Where the heck is it written that the US has to get in the middle of every conflict in the planet? Let the Chinese handle it: they're closer, they have the money and the manpower. It's not like they're strangers to the conflict.

NEWSFLASH: This country is broke and we have our own problems. We would all be better off if we minded our own business.

And the US, and government protected US corporations have NEVER stolen anything from any country?

For the love of God, give it a rest.

United States Forces Korea | 1953 Mutual Defense Treaty

The treaty is above. I have served in Korea as well. That is the one place on the planet where we actually need to be. If not for our presence, China would take over and control the whole region to include Japan who we have pledged to defend. We are stuck there. Iraq. That is just a different story. We need to get out of there.

Yes, and it is high time we got rid of it. It is a left over from the Cold War.

South Korea

Over 50 years of playing chicken for nothing. Enough. It's time to end it-the same way this Southeast Asia Treaty Organization - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
was ended.

Treaties are rewritten virtually everyday. It is that simple. We are no longer a nation that can afford the role as world cop. Just how much american blood will it take before we learn to let individual nations solve their own problems?
What exactly do we owe S.Korea, Japan, or Europe for that matter that we insist on spending billions in tax dollars for their defence. Nations that by their own right are quite wealthy.
We need to practice the lost art of minding our own business.

We made a promise to Japan that if you do not build your military we will defend you. It is kind of late to go back on that promise now considering how big the neighbors' militaries are. I am not an interventionalist. I do not agree with troops in Germany, invasion of Iraq, the continued war in afghanistan or many other places that we have committed. But to South Korea and Japan we gave our word. Both countries are success stories. If there is going to be a 3rd WW this is where it is going to take start...not the middle east. We need to protect our interests in the Pacific and not Israel's in the Middle East.

70Ford !!! ... Your Post Is On The Mark !!!

Yes indeed ... you have perfectly described the " Incredibly Dopey " beliefs of so many of CDF's "Clueless Crew" !

These folks would without doubt "Run Of The White Flag" rather than ever consider any armed defense against a dangerous enemy who would willingly and without mercy conquer this nation !

Sadly America has nearly reached this most dangerous and apathetic level of appeasement with it's many enemies around the world !

It truly appears that our nation is awash with "Vastly Inept Career Politicians" who would absolutely be to damn timid and delusional to be relied upon to make the critical decisions that would ultimately allow our beloved military to defend the American people in a crisis !!!

Our great founding fathers would have absolutely puked their guts out if they could have been aware of some of the shamefully weak comments made by some American's responding to this interesting thread !!!

The American Nation is in deep trouble and it sadly appears that not many of the political folks who spend such vast amounts of time and tax payer money in "LA LA Land" could give a "Rats AZZZZZZ" !

Thanks Y"ALL / Not So Old Sgt. Lamar
