Well, guess what. It has been removed. And future funding of the Smithsonian Gallery will be seriously reconsidered. It is not a necessity. It is "frosting on the governmental spending cake," and this frosting is looking very rancid to the majority of the U.S. taxpayers, who have voted in and will hopefully continue to vote in a more reasonable voice that represents the integrity and decency and choice of the majority of solid citizens and not pander to the lowest denominator in the name of political correctness.

I think it is time for real artist to depict the decay and deviance of the homosexual community. I could think of a few paintings that would depict exactly what they are all about.

ZZZZZ.

This cause celebre, like so many, will be forgotten. Besides, don't y'all have to fight the yearly "War on Christmas" this time of year?

The kinds of people that object to such displays do not serve on museum boards, contribute private funds for the art museums in big cities, frequent museums in general, or appreciate art outside of paintings of fruit bowls and flowers, so ultimately, "your" input will have little weight in future decisions.

And heaven forbid (no pun intended) what passes as "taste" and "art" in conservative circles ever becomes the standard for what is shown in museums of the free world. Might as well move to Saudi Arabia right now.

I bet you could! I bet you have a folder on your computer FULL of representations of all sorts dirty, depraved acts of homosexuality, don't you?

Oooh, it's so dirty and sinful. So deliciously disgusting. You just HATE thinking about it, don't you?

It's offensive but still portrays the GAY/AIDS/sexual problem. If society followed Jesus and his teachings on sane behavior, sexual and otherwise, no one would be dying from AIDS. Remain monogamous and stop sexual perversions. Showing Jesus covered in ants or anything else is a message about what we have done to Him. Ignored His message and worse.

I bet Rome was plagued with an AIDS outbreak before it's collapse. Nothing is new under the sun, the people died away and never learned from it. No politician can fix the problem. Only when people (gay or straight) learn to follow Jesus's message will they be truly free.

"kinds of people?" Oh dear, you sound so...narrow minded; perhaps a tad "bigoted?" BTW, you may want to start packing your bags. We don't want you to miss that flight to "Saudi Arabia" (another of your bigoted revelations.) Have a good trip.

Yes. "Kinds of people."

You know the type. You may very well BE the type.

And I think, based on your representations in this thread, that YOU (and others) would do quite well in the structured, wholesome, religiously strict societies of the middle east. Betcha there aint no homo exhibits THERE! What a paradise!

After all, it doesn't appear that you or others are ready or able to live in a free, pluralistic society where people are able to express themselves without fear of reprisal from the morality police.

I think you totally misinterpreted the piece, but at least you tried. Others here didn't even bother.

Fun fact! Rome was at its peak of prosperity and power when it was pagan and its most decadent.

Rome fell after conversion of the empire to Christianity.
