Has anyone here been to any of the Smithsonian art museums?
I can guarantee you that there are plenty of other pieces of art that involve naked people and religious themes.
Nobody seems to be worked up over these.
I wouldn't want to assume that it is because most of then nudes tend to be of women, because that would imply a pretty big dose oh hypocrisy.
I've been through all of them, multiple times. I've seen much nudity and religious artwork there, and never once been offended despite the fact that I'm an atheist and do not believe in gods or religions.
Art is art, and deserves to be displayed whether or not someone gets their panties in a bunch.
Ok. Avert your eyes when you see a Christmas tree and manger set up in a public place then. Works both ways. Actually, more than likely it doesn't.
Whatever made you think I'd oppose a Christmas tree and manger in a public place? In fact I will be at one over in Berkeley Hills in about month's time.
Hey, Mogal - My freedom does not come with a restriction to be inoffensive to you or anyone else.
I see religious symbols everywhere during Christmas ranging from Menorahs, to Pagan Santa to Nativity scenes and the ubiquitous Crucifix. Even if I was disturbed I would not object. It is a FREE country and I like it that way.

Fair point. Let me ask you; does a Manger scene or Christmas tree put up in a public display (even a governmental office) offend you?
Sure, remove the gay exhibit if we can remove every piece of religious iconography from every public museum.
Would pretty much devestate any display of European art from the middle ages (boring in its representation of Jesus and/or Madonna and Child), but hey, if people don't want their tax dollars spent on religious art, then it should be removed, right?
Thanks for the portrait of Jesus. He was a justifiably troubled man. Knowing humanity too well does that to you.
