I think everyone here is forgetting that he was not penalized for making a gesture to the sky, but because he had a celebratory maneuver. The celebratory maneuver is considered unsportsmanlike conduct.

In Michigan, this Public High School's FootBall Practice was postponed until Midnight to make allowances for the Muslim Holiday, Ramadan.

Yes, it's that moral superiority in action.

Nevermind. The crybabies and religio-nutcases only see and think what they want regardless of facts.

Dearborn Michigan is one of the largest Arab American populations in this country. Makes sense, otherwise half the players could not practice or play.

Schools do this all the time. Many school systems around this country close for the Jewish holidays since many teachers and students in those schools are Jewish.

All schools close for Christmas and Good Friday and most the Monday after Easter.

Here in metro Denver, schools close for Christmas (which is a federal holiday as well as a Christian holiday), but not for Good Friday or Easter Monday, unless those days happen to fall during spring break. Some districts' spring break is too early in March for that to ever happen. OTOH, I have known of sports contests and other events to be rescheduled if they conflict with the Jewish holidays. Please note I do not have a problem with this, just sayin'.

I think it has to do with the liberal obsession with sensitivity. You know, give a trophy to the losers as well, a pat on the back, not rub victory in the losers' faces because it might "offend".
