What are the reactions to former Surgeon General Carmona's testimony that the Bush Administration is suppressing science and medical information? Is the administration acting in the public's best interest? Are there other issues which may override Carmona's perspective on this topic?

The Bush administration will stoop to ANY low to please the money/votes they get from radical evangelicals (the American Taliban of James Dobson, Pat Robertson, the late Jerry Falwell, et al).

The same bunch of raging loonies pressured Reagan endlessly, but Reagan let Koop do the job. Not so this bunch in office. They refused to let Carmona publish good science and insanely pushed 'abstinence' in place of good medical science on such things as condom use, morning after pill, etc. Ideology over science. Our nation is going backwards and we are in dire danger of having an evangelical theocracy rammed down our nation's throat. As Sinclair Lewis said many years ago: When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross....

Interesting comment, but wouldn’t anyone really want the Surgeon General to speak truthfully to the people of the country about medical matters? This isn’t an issue of political party, it’s an issue of what the hell is going on with this administration or any administration for their actions with the medical Surgeon General at the time.

So you are fine with it because other Surgeon Generals have made similar claims?

There are too many people who just can’t stand to know or be told something that differs from their personal beliefs that they have developed. Closed minded, religious beliefs and propaganda from their political party makes them so intolerable anymore in society!

This Bu$h administration has provided nothing but lies for over 6 years now, propaganda and untruthful information seems to be the norm instead of what should be given to the public. I’ve stopped believing ANYTHNG from this group of criminals in Washington. What’s the point ~ it’s just more lies and corruption coming out of there.

It will be interesting in 20 years to read what history writes about them (the criminals) in Washington through this period of time for America if we can survive it.

I totally despise and detest these criminals and thugs who were placed in office by the rightwing conservative republican neocons and bible thumping voters. Just how do they intend to fix the mess they started? They don’t have an answer and never had a plan other then the criminal acts that have been occurring for 6 years now.

Anyone noticed that we are becoming an alcoholic society? Alcoholics, and other similarly addicted people, try to create realities that support their addictions. I have lived in a family that insisted that my stepfather’s brutal behavior and constant bouts with the “grippe” were something other than alcoholic rages and hangovers. The extreme Christians seem to want to force their addiction on the rest of us by preventing anyone from believing anything else. They are just protecting their delusion.

The corporate elite is doing the same by controlling the public news and debate in an attempt to keep people ignorant of their own misinformed state. Trivia about the latest Hollywood starlet combined with constant repetition of potentially threats are just a couple of the techniques used by the media and the administration to create distraction and fear. The point is to create and reinforce a reality that protects the addict. In this case politicians addicted to privilege and power and corporations addicted to monopoly profits.

I wonder where the Government and the monopolists can find a 12-step program.

It's nice to see that, at least in your case, they are doing a fine job!

It's a presidents choice to do whatever he wants with his administration.. not like this is some sort of breaking news or something..
although at times I wonder if those on the left have been asleep their entire life and suddenly awoke 6+ years ago.. good example would be getting upset about getting rid of some attorneys or commuting a sentence.

here's some more breaking news for y'all: we landed on the freaking moon!!

Yes, landed on the moon thanks to two DEMOCRATIC presidential administrations; Kennedy and Johnson...
