UE Insurance is a payroll tax that makes up part of the "loaded cost" to an employer for every non exempt employee, so in that sense we do all pay for it.

so do you think pay would go up if employers were not required to pay into it

My first instinct is no. The folk that might get more of that money are probably shareholders.

I agree, short term, but in the long term it would mean a lower cost to hire employees and might actually improve the job market.

Then it would STILL go into the shareholder's pocket (in that case it would be the OWNER)

Actually here in Texas, you have the option to either have tax taken out, or you can opt out and pay the tax at the end of the year.

Guess I'm pessimistic. I just can't imagine eliminating payroll taxes correlating with market value across the professional spectrum. There are companies profiting millions, like walmart, etc, that pay their employees minimum wage. Payroll taxes pail in comparison. OTOH, it might make a difference for those employed by small mom and pops. maybe.

I disagree to a point but I understand that some employers are that way. I am not. I would like to get rid of forced unemployment and offer it as a part of severance if needed. Something to get more employee loyalty.
Right now I have no employees. Back 2 years ago I had 60 pluss. What I did when I was losing money so bad (mostly but not all due to Fuel cost) I told my best 4 that that when I could get it better they would come back as partners. Now I have 3/4 of my company and they split 1/4. There presently not working for the business as I am still in the crapper but what profit I do make I send them there their. They all have constant communication with me and have done some small jobs to keep the business running but they also have other jobs to keep there bills paid. Hopefully when I get this problem fixed I have no doubt that I will have the best 4 come back and help me keep the business.
