I have read this book. A part I remember well was when Barbara worked as a waitress in the Florida Keys. She found that the folks, who came into the restaurant after attending church, were the most demanding and the most stingy tippers.
Wow! Is this post an exaggeration or what! The book is "Nickeled and Dimed" by Babara Ehrenreich. A very well written book.
The reference to Jesus as a wine guzzling socialist is Babara's impression and is only one reference.
A book written by a member of the Democratic Socialist Party. A very politically activist person who pretty much condemns our country's capitalistic economy. I doubt you have the same "shrug of the shoulders" response if the book, "Broke" by Glen Beck or "Trickle Up Poverty" by Michael Savage were assigned.

Have you read the book?
Or is your opinion of it based off of someone else's opinion of it?

Another example of the slanted anti-religious view being presented. See, the message did get through to you and stuck through the years. And by your attitudes, here, this method works. Good example. Thanks for sharing.
So? Many things are illegal in Minnesota, should steps be taken to ensure workers do none of them?
Yeah I wouldn't want to hire someone who is committing crimes. But, back to the discussion, I think it's ok for students to read this. Reading it made me support my conservative beliefs more. It was very interesting to read even though I strongly disagreed with it's message.

Actually I remember it because I waitressed in high school. The "church people" would storm the restaurant, where I worked, after church. I remember them being demanding and stingy tippers. I am glad to share, you are welcome!
