From a musical standpoint, the Beatles innovated a LOT in the way things were recorded.
They also did some interesting things in arranging and composing, and resonate to this day.
The Debbie Downers on this thread just have no joy in their lives, thats pretty obvious.

I must say, I'm absolutely fascinated by the "Yanks killed John Lennon" angle. And all this time, I thought Mark David Chapman was a lone idiot...I mean gunman.

A rather thick one, at that.

They were sure he was going to blow up the Empire State Building.

Thank God they got him in time!

+1 for that post, especially the last line lol! The Beatles are one of the greatest bands of my
time IMHO, second only to the Eagles!

Lol, if it wasnt for the Beatles, we would probably be listening to Lawrence Welk.

John Lennon? Three points:

1. Yes, he was a complete mess on drugs and booze from 1969 to about 1975. Countless rock biographies touch on this. He was a certifiable a-hole and barely functioning.

2. Leading to Double Fantasy, a pathetically bad album after he got cleaned up. Hard drink and drugs almost always saps the creativity out of musicians.

3. Unquestionably, if Lennon was still alive he would hate the American Right with all his fiber. All his Imaginings were the polar opposite of the values of the Right.

Hard drinks and drugs started many a creativity methinks

The 50 years and secrets was for JFK, btw............Lennon was important and the cross-dresser kept a file on Lennon, but the gun culture in the US was always gonna get him killed.

way too many nuts with a few screws loose.

You say non-functioning in that period, but he was in the US giving Nixon hell for the 1972 elections, which Nixon won by a landslide, because they tied him up by trying to deport him for conviction on pot possession back in the UK....

sounds familiar with assange?

Wrong. He was just an A-hole. There are no excuses.

He never had any to begin with. They just happened to have good looks the girls went for.

Unquestionably, he isn't. So what's your point. He's dead now, he's most likely burning in hell, so what is there left to say? That he was a good person? No.
