Uhm no,. Why do you give gift to your family and friends when there are starving people in....oh never mind. It's way too ridiculous to even go down that road.

No more so than it is politically incorrect for Glenn Beck to bestow the gift of laughter to the masses of American audiences with his comedy skits every night.

How is his reply "off topic"? And, BTW, what does political correctness or incorrectness have to do with a wealthy woman spending her money in ways that brighten others' lives and thus brightens her own?

Then what IS it about? Are you angry that you've never gotten in on any of her gift giving? Or are you angry that you can't afford to give away expensive gifts? What exactly IS the point of this thread?

Really? What 'socialist' was this that she supported? And a monetary system (capitalism) really hasn't that much to do with political ideology, does it?

Oparah Winfrey has donated over $300 million dollars in charity.

It's her money and she is a very generous person. What's the problem?

If a person would bother going to the the sites listed in a prior post, that person might understand that Oprah and her foundation have rebuilt about 400 homes in the areas damaged/destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. But, of course, (at least according to you) those people who attend her shows aren't 'worthy' of the gifts she bestows on her show, right?

Her ratings are still fairly high. Historically she has been a very generous person to her employees, and less fortunate people.

If people cannot afford the gifts she gives them they can still sell them pay the taxes from the sale of vehicle and pocket the remaining proceeds.

Quit drinking the haterade.

It's been a few years since I've watched Oprah's show, but one thing I do remember from when she started giving gifts on the show. She doesn't bestow these gifts to increase her ratings. She gives them to say 'thank you' to her loyal fans who have kept her ratings high for the last 25 years!

WOW! What a roundabout way to bash Obama. Why aren't you whining about corporations that get wealthy in America by sending jobs overseas and fall totally out of touch with "the misery of the poor, starving, and homeless in our own country"? Too far off the self-Righteous path?

Obama money, Oprah money, what's the difference?

It's a cheap method of cementing support (AKA votes) for the cause.

The gubmint does it all the time.
