Of all the threads for me to click on . This is ridiculous. OP, are you seriously bashing Oprah, a humanitarian who volunteers her time and gives a lot of money to charites of being "politically incorrect" for giving gifts to her studio audience?
How about we all skip the gift giving part of Christmas, not buy gifts for friends and family and spend the money on charities? According to your logic, we shouldn't give gifts to others because there are poor people in the US. How about eating beans and rice for Christmas dinner rather than the turkey or prime rib roast? After all people are starving
You really shouldn't let your hatred of the POTUS affect you so much. This is the USA and we are entitled to vote the way we want and support whoever we want. Oprah has done a lot for the American people, much more than Sarah Pailin or the disgusting Michele Bachmann...try seeing this for what it is, rather than letting your hatred of President Obama cloud your brain.
I think so. When you think of the money she spent on her studio audiences vs that money that could have been donated to a charity in the United States, it seems gauche and not befitting someone like Oprah who wants to be the Queen of charity.
You really think she's spending her own money on that?
Come on...all those cars and trips...donated. It's cheap advertising for the companies.
ABC reported Oprah has given away over 500 million in the last 25 years...
Anyone offended always has the option to decline... this is America... after all
How do you give away that which you haven't owned or purchased? She is just promoting her sponsors with the giveaways. The giveaways are nothing but commercials. The "Oprah factor" for viewers without a brain sends her fans out to the stores to purchase what she recommends or gives away.
What type of sad and pathetic person gets offended over this type of stuff?
"Oprah gives away gifts. That *****!"
Offended? Hardly. I couldn't care less about Oprah except for her role in promoting the man who is destroying our nation and her promotion of fake religions and fad diets. She sells snake oil, nothing more. That people glorify her is just silly.

The post you responded to is talking about her givings to charity, not her givings to audience members. As pointed out before (including by you), she doesn't give anything away to her audience members. The products are provided by her sponsors
You can easily find lists online of the biggest US donors to charity each year (Slate for instance publishes this yearly). For the past decade or so, Oprah is always in the top 50. She gives 40-50 million a year to charity.

Oprah gives tons to charity. Surely her studio audience are not wealthy and could use the gift.

What kind of sad and pathetic person gets offended over Oprah's annual give-away program? Someone who is jealous that they didn't get in on the give-away---if they can't get free stuff they don't want to see anyone else get it either.
No. Why don't you explain why Oprah thinks it is appropriate to bestow gifts on her studio audiences when entire families are living on the streets and looking for a way to feed themselves and their families in the United States of America. Don't you think she could worry less about her show ratings and more about real charity?
The point has been made several times that she is doing both, though, personally, I fail to see what one has to do with the other.
Are you suggesting that her bestowing these gifts has somehow contributed to homelessness in this country?
