Cut spending anywhere the left simply can't bring themselves to do it.

Maybe they can save up for it just like I do when I want to purchase something

Or if it is such a good idea, sell the idea to investors.
Why should we (our fed gov.) invest where they fear to tread?

If it were up to today's Republicans, I doubt we could have built an interstate highway system. It uses federal funds, so I'm sure they would have been against it.

Who spent us into oblivion from 2000-2008?

It wasnt liberals, and the money was on war, not this country. Investment was in torture, not high speed rail

Ah but we do have one and it is much more practical than high speed rail lines to nowhere to be used by the few.

Out of curiosity, how did a pair of governors-elect manage to reject anything? Both states still have seated Democratic governors.

You're quite right. The Republicans would have not built the interstate highway system if the same debt existed in the 1950's. Had conditions been the same, the country would have been sunk.

Here in Wisconsin they elected a new senator that is was completely dishonest in his campaign and will do so much to hurt our state. Then they elected a governor who told them exactly what he would do if elected and by golly he is doing it.....and it will cost our state hundreds of thousands of jobs for years to come since economic development will take place with good accessiblity. He also ended up costing our good neighbors in Minnesota the same since the development of high speed rail there was tied directly to that development in Wisconsin. My poor beloved state.
