Shutting down the government sounds like a good thing until we can get rid of the petulant children that are on their way out.

Agreed. Time to freeze the utilities on Capitol Hill. If these jokers aren't going to read the bills before they pass them then they may as well be in the dark and cold where they keep us!

Can you please post a few facts that the reps have obstructed anything.

Your party has had total control for almost 4 years with the reps not having enough votes to block anything your party wanted to do.

Or is this just something you heard Butch over on MSBNC tell you?

If you want to see real obstruction wait until the dems lose their power in the house.

The majority of Americans were with the reps on every issue, the vote last month showed you that they still are with the reps and will not stand for the dems to obstruct the reps from cleaning up the mess the dems have dug us into.

Default Riots or shutdown the govt

Ok I read a lot of people affraid of shutting down the government. I don't want to get off topic but there are as many posts about the GOP wanting to shut down the government over pushing a bill through that is flawed in this thread as there are about anything else.

Really a government shut down sounds better than rioting in the streets like we see in the rest of the world. Don't forget Clinton dealt with a shut down and it was rough but we got stuff accomplished afterwords and no one died or got hurt.

As for my take on this whole thing. The reallity is that its about more government or less government and politics as usual instead of a true representative democracy. The performance of the left is wrong on this one no doubt about it but we cant keep allowing one party rule in our country it doesnt freaking work.

Tell me how
1) Proposing even more spending = getting a backbone
2) Proposing a bill surely to be rejected is "standing firm"
3) Republicans are obstructionism? You think because they wont vote for failed policies, its a Republican flaw?

Last time I checked, breaking a record several times over for most filibusters in one session, blocking bills left and right (including ones supported by Republicans in the past), and spamming amendments is obstructionism.

I, as a "communistical", "socialistical" liberal progressive just wish he had stood up against all the crap they have done in the past...we might could have gotten a public option!

Democrats filibustered their own bills and then blamed the GOP..
