The United States is like a basketball team with every player wants to score 30 points but the team has a losing record. We are like the Golden State Warriors. We are flashy and fun to watch but we don't win often, at least not much these days in terms of global economic competitiveness. The best players on the team score and have big contracts and that's all they really care about.

Countries like Norway, Sweden and Germany, are like a well disciplined team where people realize if the country wins they ALL WIN and they are willing to sacrifice individual financial accomplishment for the good of the team.

I always thought of the US as being more like the 1992 Olympic dream team in which most of the players can score at will.

It's just a matter of getting in the game and staying there.

Are you saying that German businessmen are disadvantaged as they can't take advantage of cheap labor provided by mexicans in the US?

How does paying more taxes make anyone else rich?

Maybe the German govt isn't comprised of corrupt incompetents who waste the money they are given.

I think the German manufacturer might not have answered the question because he felt he could not provide a 45 second 'sound bite' 'twitter' answer. The German economic model or system, although mixed, is very different than the US economic system. Both are mixed economies, albeit the German model is more functional & the US model more dysfunctional.

I think it may have been difficult to provide a succinct answer without explaining the underlying philosophy/thought system:

Ordoliberalism is the German variant between social liberalism and neoliberalism that emphasizes the need for the state to ensure that the free market produces results close to its theoretical potential.

The social market economy was designed to be a third way between laissez-faire economic liberalism and socialist economics.[5] It was strongly inspired by ordoliberalism[6] and the tradition of Catholic social teaching or, more generally, Christian ethics.

Why did you think Mexicans are here? Because American business needs cheap labor. Did you think that Mexicans came here for vacations? lol

And of course GOP politicians love that, just mention raising fines for business hiring illegals and watch them run for cover... LOL

It is a simple question. Why won't you answer it? How do African countries pay to build infrastructure if they do not collect any taxes?

This is irrelevant to this conversation and the topic. And taxation to give to someone is theft. Period. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Period. Fact, end of discussion. These are objective facts and are not subject to revision by emotion.
No, disagreeing with your personal opinion does not mean anyone wrong, it only means they do not agree with your personal view.

He answered the question, you just don't like his answer.

they are here because the government provides incentives, and mexico is a dump. not rocket science. I have never met an illegal from central america that was making under $10 an hour. keep in mind, many of them are paid under the table so they aren't paying income tax. you can call it cheap, but it's a few bucks more than minimum wage. conservatives have been calling for fines for those who hire them for a long time, and every time they do liberals cry racism.
