"I was at - forgive the expression - a Christmas Party," NPR reporter Nina Totenberg interjected from a common description for a common event,..."
This is how revisionist history gets started. Ridiculous. Either it was a "Christmas" Party or it wasn't.
Don't you think she might have meant this as a "tongue-in-cheek" statement? That's what it sounds like to me. This whole war on Christmas bullsh*t is just getting riduculous... from both sides.
Lots of people around the world are celebrating this holiday season. And they have for thousands of years before one of your long forgotten popes 1700 years ago decided to hogpile Jesus' birthday on top of the pre-existing traditional holiday.
It isn't all about you and it never has been. In the spirit of the season, please stow your phony outrage.
Peace on earth, not war on xmas.
So apologizing for saying "Christmas party" or heck, apologizing for even being at a Christmas party is okay for a publicly funded station? Why is that something to apologize for? It has nothing to do with being Christian, it's a ridiculous thing for someone to apologize for and speaks VOLUMES as to NPR's ulterior motives. They are just so out in left field (pun intended).
I think so. This isn't privately owned Trader Joe's. This is publicly funded, National Public Radio. They are APOLOGIZING for using the word, CHRISTMAS, as if it were a derogatory word or a word not allowed; i.e., censored. Face it. NPR is no longer a free media representing ALL the people. They support censorship. Public funding needs to be withdrawn.

Yea I think she was simply being ironic for a laugh.

This is not about Trader Joe's saying, "Happy Holidays," vs "Merry Christmas."
This is about a publicly funded news source apologizing for using the word, "Christmas," to relay an event; i.e., a Christmas Party she attended. This is absurdly rude and intolerant behavior. Religious persecution anyone? What if she had apologized for saying the word, "Hannukah," or "Kwanza," or "Pagen," or "Vegan," or "Biker" or "Climate Change," or "Gay," Party? This is not acceptable for any of these groups to be so disparaged. This is not a media that is free and representative of all.

Was she acting under orders, under ideology or on her own?
So you think Christmas is a joke? Talk about being offensive!
