Are they the only sensible ones of their religion/culture? Or are they violating an unwritten rule of Catholicism? What is your take on it, and why?

Suggesting that someone is sensible for voting democrat is like saying you're a genius for burning down your house when playing with matches.

I think they're total hypocrites. If you haven't noticed, a lot of Catholics are liberal and don't even go to church anymore, they might say they're Catholic but their actions prove otherwise. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian but votes Dem is pretty much a hypocrite, since Dems stand for legal killing of unborn children as well as gay marriage, generally speaking.

The only time I think about Catholicism is when the church hierarchy are busy protecting abusive priests and perverting the course of justice.

What do you think of pro-life Catholics who still vote Democrat?

Because some are smart.

They know the Repubs haven't done anything about abortion despite being elected on an anti-choice platform.

They know that abortion is legal and will continue to be and that there are other important issues that they agree with Democrats on.

They see Republicans against the poor, the sick, the middle class, average workers, ...in other words...them.

I think they're realists who understand the GOP uses the issue more as a ca$h cow than anything they'll ever likely act on.

True. That's why pro-life Catholics should leave the Dem party and move to the real pro-life Republican party - you know, the party that likes war and killing so much it used non-existent WMDs as an excuse to kill 200K Iraqis (mostly civilians).

Who exactly approved the wars? Both sides. Great post!

I'm not a Catholic, but I am a pro-life (anti-abortion AND against the death penalty) Christian and I vote Democrat. I see no conflict with my faith, at least less of a conflict than I would if I was voting Republican.
