I'm all for that...but some horses are pumped full of drugs so the meat shouldn't be eaten...think I'll stick to home grown nature-fed venison

They are used for meat in the US.

Just not human food.

There are some people in our area that eat their horses.

This is happening on a large scale in Florida, particularly Ocala, the self-styled "horse capital of the world".
Just in the last week or so there was a story in the paper about the rescue of 35 starving mares and foals, all Thoroughbreds.
Very sad, DD took about 200 pounds of feed and several bales of hay over to the rescue farm, and has taken more since.

When the economy tanks...pets become liabilities to people more so than in good economic times.

Plenty of starving and abandoned horses being rescued in Texas as well.

i agree with getting out the .22, but shoot the owners who abandone the horse!

Was tried in the 1970's. Most people would have nothing to do with it.

Colorado has a prison horse rescue. I am not sure if KY dose that or not but it has worked well for CO
