Uh huh. So IYO...why has Haiti been a failure and DR less of a failure, though still clearly a failure.

Entitlement mentality as a nation.

The DR is far from a failure by third world standards.

The U.N. ranks the Dominican Republic 90th out of 182 countries on its human-development index, which combines a variety of welfare measurements; Haiti comes in at 149th. In the Dominican Republic, average life expectancy is nearly 74 years. In Haiti, it's 61. You're substantially more likely to be able to read and write if you live in the eastern two-thirds of Hispaniola, and less likely to live on less than $1.25 a day.

Or maybe this affected the way Haiti turned out:

1934:
The US administration dismantled the constitutional system, reinstituted virtual slavery for building roads, and established the National Guards that ran the country by violence and terror after the Marines left.

Yes they were. Read that link I provided. Haiti was land the US took from DR. DR does not have the same history as Haiti.

How do you get an entitlement mentality when you have NOTHING to be entitled to? That nation has always been poor as hell.

And the DR may not be the Congo, but it's still a dump.
