According to wikipedia that blizzard resulted in 27.2 in Newark (doesn't say if it was the airport or not), but one of the articles I saw the other day said some reports had 36 inches in some parts from this storm and if official would be the largest amount of snow anywhere in the state during a single storm in history.

Regardless, even if it wasn't the biggest storm, it was close to it, simply not a good idea for the Governor to leave the day of the storm when the Lt Gov was already out of town. I think it would have been more understandable if they were both already out of town when the storm hit. However, the fact Christie left the very day it hit, knowing very well it was going to be one for the ages just doesn't look good.

In NJ snow clearing success is, for the most part, dependent upon the efficiency and dedication of one's local government (we have 500 or so municipalites in this small state).

Some are great (like mine in Sussex County) some are corrupt, pathetic failures who couldn't manage a snow cone cart much less a snow storm.

Anyone who gives success or failure to a Governor for their town's lack of snow removal is an overly partisan idiot.

Then again, we are talking about NJ.

Lol, as a NJ resident allow me to let you in on a little secret, no one in NJ (outside of a few hyper partisan morons) blames Chritie for taking a vacation.

The bottom line is it didn't make a difference. Snow removal was pretty good in NJ. Now Queens is still buried and both the governor and mayor are there. Using the op's logic the dems in NY dropped the ball since NY has a democrat governor and NYC's snow removal was abysmal!

why are you (a long islander) worrying about whether the jersey governor was in state or not during a snow storm....2 weeks before areas like buffalo got 6 FEET of snow

its a snow storm,, not server flooding, not a huricaine, not an earthquake....and the governor has NO CONTROL over the whether

snow removal/plowing/sanding/salting will happen whether he is in state or not, whether he is a republican or a democrat (which is your point, bet me... if it was still the dummycrat you would not be saying a thing..your BAISEDNESS is in EVERY post you have made in the last 3 years.... )

Buffalo is well Buffalo, it gets storms like this quite frequently. On the other hand New Jersey doesn't. This was one of the biggest storms in the history of the state. Not to mention that the one in Buffalo impacted a small part of the state, while this one impacted the entire state.

When it comes down to it a sitting Governor (regardless of party) should not be leaving town the day of one of the biggest storms in the history of the state, that impacts the entire state when the 2nd in command is already out of town.
