This is why the gov't needs to stay out of subsidizing and setting prices for commodities.

Bolivian president seeks support for fuel price increase - CNN.com

Quote:
President Evo Morales sought Wednesday to drum up support for his move over the weekend to end subsidies on the price of gasoline, a decision that resulted in the largest gas price increase in 30 years and led to protests in some cities.

...

Morales said he would add 10 percent to the national price for staples like rice, corn and wheat to incentivize domestic food producers to grow more and would invest in water projects, too.
He added that he will increase by 20 percent the salaries of police, the armed forces and the health and education sectors.

...

A strike by bus and other public transportation drivers went as planned, though some remained on the job. Those who remained, however, raised their prices, too.

The point is still valid. Just like the point with Greece is still valid.

Too much gov't control leads to extremely mad citizens when change occurs, therefore, the gov't needs to butt out of things like this.

Okay, point taken, but you're missing MY point, in that when gov't gets involved in this kind of thing, it generally gets FUBARed. Our economy is in shambles b/c of gov't regulation and the gov't butting in where it shouldn't be.

Socialsts don't want to admit that there is validity in your point. To do so is to admit their "utopian" social government is an abject failure worldwide.

Exactly! The government should stick to things like determining enemies, going to war, and spying on its citizens instead.

Interesting how some are worried about government control of financial matters but are okay with government control of the mind and body.
