Judge Boll had recieved death threats in 2009 when he was presiding over a civil rights lawsuit by illegal immigrants against a white supremacist leader and had been protected by US Marshalls with high levels of security. When the Marshals identified who was behind the threats against him and his family, he decided not to press charges and dropped said level of protection.
I'm listening to a live press conference from the hospital where 11 victims were brought. Some updates from the head of surgery:
The congresswomen was shot through and through on one side of the head. Neurosurgeons are done with the congresswomen- she is out of surgery. They are "very optimistic" she will survive. She was reportedly lucid and following commands
The only confirmed fatality so far is a 9 year old girl (out of the 11 at this particular hospital)
A 9 year old kid? So tragic. What a senseless act of murder and violence.
It was a map with a gun target on her district. Palin's words were to "take out" Democrats on the list. Jump a few months into the future and she gets shot.
It's sick the way you keep trying to make this about your own political agenda. Did you ever find it terrible that a liberal shot Reagan and a liberal shot at Ford and a liberal killed Kennedy?
You'd be dancing in the streets if Palin was killed so your indignation over this is truly absurd.
I know nothing about Giffords but it is a damn shame. I heard the perp was shooting a full auto. I can hardly wait to hear why he did it. No red wagon when he was a child? No family hugs? It makes me sick.

And that's the tragedy. A nine year old girl who was doubtlessly there because of her parents - hell, they could have been going to buy her a birthday cake for all we know.
The shooter is alive and he'll have all the platform he's ever wanted to shout his idiotic beliefs from now. No need to speculate. Until then, everyone should have some respect for those harmed and their families.
