Hatred of the USA? He was anti-government. Hatred of God? He was an atheist. Sounds very Timothy McVeigh-ish.

My point about the song is that the song wouldn't create a murderer where there wouldn't be a murderer before.
Show one credible source that he was a follower of Palin or ever attended a Tea Party meeting. There is no evidence whatsoever that he was influenced by Palin - no matter how much you try to twist this tragedy for your own agenda.

You don't get to pick and choose.

There are still people that listen to the Pope and act accordingly. So much for no one is being controlled...

Sorry Pamky, that was a trick question since no person is able to control any other person by any means. We all have independent wills and do what we like.

Obedience is a wholly voluntary enterprise.

Again, you know this HOW? Why, because he was a pot-smoking Atheist? As tablemtn already said, these are not partisan issues... there are plenty of conservative Atheist pot smokers out there, in case you weren't aware. You seem to be the one desperate to put a label on this guy, whereas most of us are saying he's simply a lunatic. If you really did think the partisan bickering was disgusting, you wouldn't be trying so hard yourself to make this a political issue.

All I've been saying is that these leaders need to watch what they say. I'll include the left - Keith Olbermann did too last night.

Remember - Sharron Angle - Second Amendment Remedies.

You've got someone off the chain who is anti government to a violent sense anyway (you guys are always screaming that liberals love government and are socialists but now the guy's a liberal?) - and the vitriol influences them. The Pima County SHERIFF said so himself, he's in law enforcement for 50 years! What more do you need?

I am disgusted by hypocrites that don't see that both sides do it.

Remember the woman that asked Palin why she quit in Alaska? The right bloggers were all over her. Accused her of being a whacko liberal and that she lied about being a teacher (truth was, she was a teacher).

Put off your blinders. There are idiots on both sides. What you do is you pick the bad ones on the left side and ignore the bad ones on "your" side.

In all fairness, the guy's former friend said the guy was a liberal when she last saw him in 2007. Just putting that out there since this seems to be the right-wing meme on this. But she hadn't seen him in a few years, and clearly his views have transformed into something that can't really be classified anymore?

It's telling that the extremists from both sides of the aisle have become so envenomed and so obsessed with their pathetic vitriol and bile that within 10 minutes of this story breaking, the very fact that the politician shot was a Democrat had everybody on the left proclaiming that the gunmen simply HAD to be a Republican and that this is just how conservatives do business in the 21st century and blah blah blah blah.

Seriously, if you had that reaction, or if you even cling to that belief right now, you are a waste of space and should be exiled. There has been NO revelation as to this guy's political leanings. Demographically speaking, the odds are he was a Democrat, but there's no way to know for right now. You certainly can't go off media reports, because they've all reached for the lowest common denominator and have resorted to grabbing people from his high school desperate for their 15 minutes of fame to provide some sort of snipet. Ironic that this guy was such a loner, yet everybody claims to have known him, isn't it?

Guess what? The guy who shot Reagan wasn't doing it for political reasons - he wanted to get into Jodie Foster's pants. Sometimes crazy is just crazy.

Everyone who knew him in school knew him to be a leftist and knew he was turning radical leftist. He showed himself burning a USA flag in that one video. One of his listed books was the Communist Manifesto, he hated religion.

The liberals on here were jumping and frothing at the mouth trying to put this on Palin and Conservatives within seconds of the shootings. Just go back and look at the postings - they immediately began trying to exploit this tragedy. Never would accept the guy was most likely a paranoid schizophrenic in a psychotic break. Immediately they tried to make it political.

Meh... he was what, 18-19 at the time? I didn't even understand politics at that age, so a former high school friend is hardly a credible source. Doesn't matter anyway, since he obviously has mental issues beyond "extreme liberalism."

Oh, I'd like to point out one other thing for those claiming that this is just a Republican hate crime:

Jim Bell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This guy wrote an amazing essay entitled "Assassination Politics". For doing so, the government completely stomped on him and trampled every right he had, made him out to be a loon even though there are strong indications he was right on all counts as to what they were doing to him. Is he a Republican? Au contrair, this guy is a dyed in the liberal to the core.

Point is, you can't just go "Well a Democrat got shot, must be political by a right-wing whackjob"
